  1. The option of the beach never existed during Milne’s time. That option exists now because the oil patch has gone to shit and Aberdeen is on its knees. The hotel that was there is shut and the council now want to try to help AFC help at the same time helping the city. Cormack, like Milne did at the time, is working with the options open to him

  2. Cowley would have been a really good appointment.

  3. Previous schemes (unless I missed something) were for the around the Golf Road Driving range, which is pretty much at sea level (some sections might even be below it). I have my doubts if there is much of a sewer network once you get clear of Golf Road so adding a major development such as a football stadium is going to put a major strain on the network not withstanding the headache of building potentially below the established 'water table' - serious ground works required to make sure the soil around the site stays dry. The Hilton site from memory appears to be above sea level so soil saturation shouldnt be as bad, plus it is adjacent to a fairly major urban road which serves residential and commercial businesses on both sides so there should be a more suitable sewer network to connect to. If any established non-private roads need to be redirected to get a site to work, then a project is essentially a non-starter. Relocating a private road can be fairly straight forward as it only affects the owners of the land which it is on. Relocating a non-private road requires consultations with local residents, businesses, environmental health, the emergency services, Utility Companies, Community Councils before you even get a formal proposal together. The higher the road classification, the more complicated and expensive it gets. I suspect the Beach Boulevard would be classed as an 'Arterial Road' which is the 2nd highest in the classifications.
