  1. From being Stevenage sub to being immortalised in a David Squires cartoon, he must be enjoying his 15 minutes of fame right now: https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2023/jan/10/david-squires-on-shocks-and-awe-in-the-fa-cup-third-round

  2. Exactly that. He's a quality player who'll undoubtedly get better and better, but he's probably been fortunate to have had as many minutes for us as he has. Further up the pitch is definitely his best position at the moment, because he's always looking for that quick ball in behind that others don't spot in time. That leads to a few poor decisions, but it's better to have tried in my opinion. That's what will set him apart in future. He could be the difference between winning and losing a game some weeks, so it'd be great to see him stay until Monday. Just until we get the work permit sorted for the new Slovakian world beater who can bring us home the cup.

  4. Seems likely Manc Been good while it lasted. He has actually brought more to AFC in his time than Maddison did. I wish the lad every success Oh and can we keep him until Sunday please

  5. You say that Al but the last time we played them in a cup semi (fergie header game) Beaton was ref. Not only that, after we had gone 1 up I remember morelos going down in the box. From the other end of the park it didn't look the worst claim in the world either and Beaton waved play on. I would have Beaton over Walsh any day of the week 2bh

  6. Came across this wee clip of festive fixtures from 1950 which caught the eye.Note the size of the crowds, and Hibs v Hearts > Celtic v Rangers,ie 65'000 v 60'000. All the other ones pretty amazing, pre Old firm glory hunter

  7. Would guess some of those junior cup ties will have had some decent sized crowds as well. TIme before mass car ownership meant folk went to local games or so Big Al tells me.

  9. Nick Walsh confirmed as referee for semi final. That should kill off any enthusiasm you have.
