  1. Disappointing that we look to play a part in this. Would rather we went back to a proper reserve league, with an allowance to introduce injured first teamers to play in limited numbers to get match fitness when returning.

  2. This could go one of two ways I could either say, I set them up, you knock them down OR Stop taking the piss out of my dislexia

  3. I agree about the Scots thing, I think that's important. However, not sure about the rest of your argument. We can clearly see when a player is destined for better things than the Dons, or that it's their intention to move on, as was the case with all those mentioned. We also operate within the constraints of our revenue, unless we're interested in becoming the next sevco. The latter is a fairly important thing to me, I'm not that comfortable even with our current level of expenditure to revenue. I actually don't understand how anyone can be a supporter of a team and not care about these things. In terms of McRorie and Barron, I think the former is easily replaceable with the money suggested, and the latter would really benefit from staying another year and making the Clarkson role his own. However, Barron is a classic case of where your logic breaks down. It's clear that (at present) he doesn't want to sign a new deal and sees his future elsewhere. Our (AFC) feelings don't come into it. I don't think you'd find many Dons fans not delighted if he accepted a three year deal. Imagine he did though and next season he plays really well. We'd be in the Ferguson situation where it's blatantly obvious he needs to move on to further his career. We simply couldn't "build a team around him", because to do that would require players of his calibre with salaries to match. In other words, everything we do as a club with regards to players is only ever good while it lasts with every individual, all the while trying to incrementally improve the squad each time we make a transfer. Just the same as every other club in the world that doesn't just go out and buy two squads.

  5. Killie going down for me as even from Edinburgh travelling there by public transport is a painful. Mind you my liver could do with a break from County.

  6. Put my thoughts in the other thread. I'm definately happy with this. If we win our two games at home I think we will be there even if we lose the other three. Good that Celtic are going to Tynecastle in the first fixture aswell. It Means Hearts have to play them while they still have something to play for, whereas we get them in the last game when things could already be settled.

  7. He still has three years left on his deal - think we should be holding out for more than £2m. It's not just about the money. Duk & Miovski will spend the summer being linked with moves away. Clarkson & Pollok will go back to their parent clubs. Shinnie & McDonald are not yet signed up. Who knows if Robson (providing he gets the job) wants to keep Scales or if Celtic are even willing to do a deal. Only IF (and it is still an IF) we get the guaranteed group stage football then we can confidently write some big cheques. If we don't we'll have early European qualifiers with a depleted & unsettled squad trying to avoid injuries, and having splashed most of our cash last summer. We could really do without losing McCrorie too unless it's for big money. For me £3m minimum, never mind the add ons - Bristol are getting nowhere near the top flight any time soon, and McCrorie isn't a regular in the Scotland squad.
