  1. 69 is no age nowadays. Thanks for the memories and particularly the trips to Madrid & Munich

  2. The crux of the matter for me is at what exact point is that still taken. Is it as soon as he gathers the ball or a second after by which point he has pulled the ball back onto the line. Not sure anyone really has the definitive answer on this occasion. Some you win, some you lose Potentially harsh on Elgin, but we haven't exactly been getting those breaks over the past couple of months.

  3. Aye, definitely deserves a thread in this forum. A frustrating manager, but I liked him. Some great times with him in charge, and his record stands up very well as Dons boss.

  5. I’ve just turned 45 and my first game was one of Fergies last. Was at SCF in ‘90 under Smith and was probably at Pittodrie for most of his reign. Ebbe was a bit of a cult hero. But after Pele, Calderwood brought a bit of respectability back to AFC. Beating the Huns when Ricksen got sent off and going 2 up against Bayern are two of my favourite memories of being at Pittodrie (along with the Mimms, Gillhaus, Nicholas goal). The forum carry on in his last few months and when he was sacked was ridiculous and tainted, arguably, our best post Fergie managers legacy (definitely at the time). Might dig out my old sky plus box and watch back the Copenhagen and Bayern games.

  6. When he signed, I thought we'd hired the bigger Chuckle Brother. His tombola team selection was frustrating as hell. But he did bring some wicked memories, particularly Copenhagen and Bayern Munich at Pittodrie. RIP Jimmy

  8. I'd say that angle actually shows it wasn't in at that point. There's no way that whole ball is over the line. That angle biases the attacking team, if you were to imagine the image rotated around the axis of the line where it meets the ball, you'd most likely see that a good portion of the ball is covering the line (even though there is a sliver of green between line and ball in the image). That said, that particular still frame could be the one taken after the keeper has pushed it back the way a little bit, we don't know. What's funny is that the guys on Red TV were sure it was in because they take the reaction of the players into account. Because Nisbet was strongly claiming immediately suggested that it was a goal. On sportscene, later, the pundits were sure it wasn't a goal because they take the reaction of the players into account. Because the fullback was strongly claiming, it suggested that it wasn't in. Neither weighed up the reaction of the player who didn't agree with their opinion. As you say, sympathise with the officials here. Luckily those types of call are rare. I think I'd probably have sided with Elgin in this case, but the linesman has to go with the view he has got. If VAR had been in play, we'd have been waiting 8 minutes, and they'd have just guessed in the end.

  9. Happy with the win, that was a game where I honestly didn't care about performance. We needed a result and we got it, now a week off before St M at home.

  10. I think he’s a deep lying center mid, very much like sivert. Play them both, do they get in each others way and prevent each other from playing their natural game? Would like to see palaversa and shinnie with gueye ahead of them at 10.

  11. Think we’d all agree with that, but we need to get them out than just bloat a squad.

  12. Genuinely thought that at the time as well.

  13. Ambrose played his part in the goal well by not touching the ball as it went past him.
