  2. As probably the biggest critic on here of BBC Scotland, I have to give them some serious credit on this one Great choice of song with Johnny Cash's vocals providing the edge. More than a few tears shed watching that mix of past glories that I was present at and also yesterday's ones.

  3. You could always go and watch Hearts in the league cup group stages.

  4. Players went into the coach after the council had milked the occasion for all it’s worth inside the town hall. Great to see so many people in the city today but not sure about the choice of beer for some of the players!!

  5. Aye there's not much difference between euro and conf league cash wise. You could argue the conference is a better option for a club our size as we are more likely to progress. Hearts should have got out of their group but, unfortunately for them, they are Hearts.

  6. Happy Sunday Champions!!!!!!!!!!!! What a day btw. 35 years I've been waiting to see us lift that bloody cup. 35 sodding years. I know most of you have been as well but for me it's just that bit more poignant than most due to the 90 cup final being the first ever football match I watched all the way through and because I had wanted to. I've often wondered how my life would have looked if we had lost in 1990 as it was such an awful game...... I might not have got so into football. To win it again means an awful lot to me and I will never forget 24/05/25. Huge credit has to go to Thelin. It's good to see him show some flexibilty formation wise but even better to see him do it so effectively. I don't think it's unreasonable to say we looked like we had been playing a back 3 all season and for the vast majority of the game we held celtic at arms length fairly comfortably. All the players stood tall as well. Palaversa played his best game in red if you ask me, Devlin put Kuhn in his back pocket despite playing on the left (and looked just fine on the left in general) and Jack Milne came in and quite frankly strolled through the game. Shinnie was a titan in the midfield. Celebratory specs off though and this is such a massive result. Thelin has regained the credit he had from the support from the great start to the season that had been eroded away. The squad will get a good amount of time off and still get a full pre season in because of the later start in Europe. That is huge imo, I would say with all the likely and confirmed departures we are going to need about 8 players in who can go straight into the team. With our first European game now on the 21st of August instead of the 24th of July (suck it up you jutie cunts) all new signings should be should be far more up to speed by that point. Also, on that note, this is a result that will have raised some eyebrows across europe given the whole year of the underdog schtick and as such we just became a bit more attractive to players we target. Put it this way, if Milanovic was having any internal doubts about moving to the other side of the planet to play for Aberdeen I suspect yesterday probably made them go away. With Cormack promising to back Thelin yesterday and the extra 6 mill we are defo getting next season this has potential to be a really exciting window for us.

  8. Loads of respect for a captain taking the first penalty. Feared for shinnie as his legs were surely fucked by that time. Top don, super penalty leading the way. Polvara too, doesn’t play a lot but class yet again and coolly finished. Dabbagh beauty too, and as for palaversa, barely plays a full game, but to go the whole way and strike the pen so well, amazing. Penalties are luck to an extent, but also preparation. JT got it spot on today.

  9. Article from Record on Doohan’s possible switch to the BEATEN cup finalists Celtic. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/doohan-celtic-aberdeen-transfer-news-35285574 No loss really but does leave us short of a Scottish player for Europe.

  10. I even wore an old red strip (saltire energy one) I found that I didn't realise I had, I don't normally wear strips unless playing. Still fit perfectly, such is my athletic figure.

  15. To provide balance in my BBC comments, I feel the need to complain to the Director General about this sort of thing being allowed to go out live on a national station Great stuff from Ante Palaversa who takes over the mantel from Stewart Milne and undoubtedly sums up how any one of us would be feeling at that moment in time. https://x.com/markmassie4372/status/1926397500539236838?t=vHQNJYirG1FAdNyVlCqLHA&s=08

  16. I was massively impressed by McGrath's reaction when I saw this particularly given the impact of our victory upon him personally for next season.

  17. I've been wondering about seeing if we could get Bojan on loan too I must admit. He's not had much of a sniff at Girona since coming back from injury. Did anyone see Mcgrath hug Thelin during the post pen celebrations? His eyes pure lit up when he saw him then he launched himself at him to hug. I thought that was quite interesting given Mcgrath didn't even get a place in the squad and is also leaving. It shows impressive man management if you ask me.

  19. Miller was interviewing him and asked him what it was like to win the cup, he said “fucking amazing” or to words of that effect edit: upon hearing it again, it was palaversa.

  20. A bizarre, bizarre season but what a fucking magical way to end it. Credit to Thelin, and fucking jealous of every single dandy who made it along. What a time to be alive! also, fuck me, those penalties were bloody magic. Each and every one of them. Baws of steel. LOVE IT. Happy fucking Saturday dons fans, fucking love it ️ that mitov interview on sportsound was magic. I doubt it’ll make through the edits

  21. Holy shit, we actually did it. With about 15 minutes to go I accepted we weren't going to win it. Couldn't see a goal coming, but was weirdly calm about it. Team had defended well apart from the goal, hadn't been embarrassed like everyone expected, but I just thought we didn't have enough to topple Celtic. And then we only went and fucking equalised, looked like we might even sneak a late winner, had huge chances in extra-time and looked a different team. The moment Maeda was one-on-one and Mitov saved, you felt the luck we never seem to have at Hampden against Celtic had finally arrived. Maybe luck the wrong word - more that you need the big moments to go your way and that was a sliding doors moment right there. Even penalties, I kept thinking it's the same end (different stadium I know) that we beat Caley and it'd go well for us. I fully expected that first penalty to be saved, was such an odd feeling, was like I was watching the 2014 League Cup final again. I went past Celtic Park on my way home, couldn't resist it. They were dismantling the stage they had built to welcome back the treble winners. Party cancelled, and strangely just pockets of Celtic fans wandering about, almost like they were unable to accept they had lost. Stayed sober today but I certainly won't be finishing it in that state.
