  4. Excellent post Well thought out and brings into focus exactly where we currently stand. P.S Bruce Anderson, under these circumstances isn't the worst possible shout.

  5. .................... ......... Come to think of it Shankland appears to be available and he would also tick the trained at club box....... I would prefer the Baggio from Banff to the Slabhead from the Slagheap though.

  6. My big concern at the mo is euro registration rules. 25 places, 4 of which must be homegrown at club (which is trained at the club for at least 3 years before they are 21) and 8 must be homegrown in country (same rules but at any scottish club). For every place you can't fill with one or the other or both you lose a space in your squad. Eg you only have 3 players trained at club and 8 trained in country you can only register 24 players. Players under 21 don't need to be registered as long as they have been at the club for two years. At the moment we have 4 scots in the squad over 21. Shinnie, Devlin, Duncan and Milne so as things stand we can only register 21 players to play in Europe. Currently, assuming that the 4 above are registered, that would mean not registering one of: Suman, Nilsen, Polvara, Gueye, Palaversa, Yengi, Clarkson, Sokler, Morris, Rubezic, Topi, Milanovic, Molloy, Mitov, Gyamfi, Jensen, Knoester or Tobers. Not included in that list as I suspect they won't be here by then is Richard Jensen , Ambrose and Vinny. When it's looked at like this I think we need to be moving on Ruby and probably Sokler as well and replacing them with Scots. I tell you what, it maybe wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to have a look at bringing Bruce Anderson back perhaps. He's trained at club and absolutely capable at SPFL level. Given we have 4 centre halves all of whom are JT picked you could argue we don't really need Ruby anyway so it wouldn't necessarily have to be a like for like replacement for him.

  8. I will bow to your superior knowledge on Emslie, given you are far more likely to see him play a few times than I have. Have to say, his stats did look impressive last season, albeit at a lesser level. If we are not keeping youngsters like this, I hope we are somehow structuring their release that potentially gives us an option of a pre agreed but back fee or sell on clauses to protect ourselves and potentially recoup some of our outlay to date

  9. Not surprised. I didn't think Emslie looked anywhere near to getting in our first team. Neither Bavidge or Marshall. Lobban stood out, but in a position we're well covered in. Boyd will likely go on loan this season too. It's difficult to see a good development pathway for our youngsters, and it doesn't seem like the club has figured it out yet. That's not a criticism either, we're in that middle ground as a club, where there's huge pressure to finish third, and we're not good enough as a team to carry young players. Any player who might be good enough to get straight in at a young age (17-19), will have probably moved down south already. Players that need the bit of extra development either go on loan or spend a year on our bench. That gap between u19s and first team is big, and so is the gap between the lower leagues and the SPFL. We basically need to hope that all our youngsters grew up in the area and are massive dandies, like Milne and Barron, in order for us to get them to sign deals and do the time required to develop. Maybe once the automatic euro league pish goes away, we'll have less pressure and we can begin to try something. It needs to be done in visible quotas, with the fans brought onside if we're to do it properly (just like everyone was primed in advance of Thelin's "project"). Targets of X minutes of youth player involvement per season, with players ineligible for inclusion in that total beyond their first full season. That'd force the hand of the manager, and also temper the recruitment in certain areas where we thought a youngster showed promise (for example, if we'd felt that Lobban was going to be good, we might not have signed Jensen, or whatever).

  10. I thought you missed the "M" after £20. Then I realised you're talking about Ambrose. As you were

  11. If the offer is good enough any of our players would be sold. Rama lasted one season, that’s the nature of the trading model. if we get a £20 offer tomorrow Ambrose would be heading to the airport.
