  1. 100%. For better or worse we’ve backed him fully, and built a squad (I believe) to his liking. As has been said, so much squad overhaul in the last year plus, pretty much the entire squad. While I can’t say for sure, I don’t recall a period where within 12 months our starting 11 were all new players, no spine of long term core players. Other than a center mid, assuming it’s not kjarten, I think the squad is more or less built and now it’s time to see what jimmy can do. I think by Xmas we should have a better understanding. At the same time, we’re getting close to two games per week every week which bring little full squad training. There’s the excuse for squad rotation as well as lack of training to work on stuff. the focus now has to be replacing Gunn with a person and role that oversees the first team squad, including performance.

  2. Thelin - I think you can strongly criticise him and also be strongly against sacking him. I really can't be arsed with another manager change. We've heavily invested in this one. We're not going to be relegated in October. Let's give this manager backing for once. But by fuck do we need to hit some good form, preferably before the year is out.

  3. a criminal omission given we are crying out for finishers

  4. This is exactly how I feel as well. I’m hoping for a Hibs 24/25-style turnaround. I’m also choosing to believe that it could happen because life’s generally better when you’re an optimist.

  5. I've a feeling he might be as injury prone...

  6. I thought he did well and he could, if tactics and coaching allow it, be another attacking full back like Mackenzie, who was also not that fast.

  7. Aye this was the big thing for me. I get Thelin wants Nisbet to play deeper. But you then need either your two wide men getting into the box and getting shots off - which they didn't - or someone going beyond Nisbet to get on the end of things - which isn't Aouchche's game. Our two best chances fell to defenders. At least with Yengi earlier in the season he was getting chances, just not taking them. Now our so-called threats aren't even getting chances. About what? I doubt he knows more about football or coaching than the general fan.

  8. I was convinced Thelin was a good appointment but for whatever reason it’s not working and his departure is beginning to look inevitable and that he will be going in next couple of weeks. As Slim says we are to predictable and everyone knows how to prevent us playing. We have no plan B.

  9. Completely agree. I’ll give him until Christmas before I jump on any JMG bandwagon but only because of the high player turnover. We really need to see changes from him as well as the players between now and then.

  10. I’ve said it before Clarkson has to start. He’s the best passer in the team. It’s Clarkson + 1 other in midfield depending on the opposition.

  11. Good find. We need to get someone in above him to really put the pressure on him. He could be a good manager I think, but he needs anyone to really be questioning his judgement. I would say that the whole "5 wins in 32" needs to do one though. Two entirely different squads and seasons, and need to be judged separately. There is no such thing as "calendar year" in fitba either, it's just pundit bollocks. Each season is a reset. JT has had his, and we judge him on his failures this season. I'd force him to stay and own his mess.

  12. We’ve got a team of modern, risk averse robots. Very few risks are taken because you must keep the ball at all costs. Maybe works elsewhere but it’s clearly not doing us any good and I’m not sure Jimmy is ever going to figure it out if he hasn’t by now.

  13. I said after last weekend that the credit was running really low, but actually thought we might get a reaction today from them. Frankly there is literally nothing shown during the 94 minutes today to suggest that we are learning from these shocking displays and seem hell bent on just repeating the same mistakes over and over and over again in the hope that we will miraculously achieve a different outcome. Let's not forget, this is the most expensive squad this club has ever had.

  14. @Panda's suggested system was actually how he setup after the subs against Livi. Palaversa was in front of the defence, with Armstrong and Clarkson in front, and Polvara wide left. It became very congested, and disjointed, but if they have a week to practice it could be good. I'd say that we would be better without the inverted wingers in such a system though. The only reason I wouldn't go for it, from the start anyway, is that we're finally up against a team which our normal system would suit. In which case, we'll probably change.

  15. As for the League Cup. We have a brilliant chance to win the trophy, with Rangers and Celtic there for the taking, and the greatest Hearts team in history somehow knocked out by St Mirren. Would be a sickener to pass up the chance to at least make the semis. My team would be:- I think Aouchiche has a lot of potential, but at the moment he's strolling about in a sort of free role, with us hoping he'll produce something special. A few long distance shots that go close, but generally very few killer balls or bringing others into the game. I'm dreading the reaction to this game if we don't win.

  16. Problem is, who are our best central midfielders? I don’t think we have two players with the full attributes needed in a 4-2-3-1. Possibly our only failure this window. I partly think JT went with sivert and shinnie last week since we were blooding new players and they had experience, plus shinnie played left side to support gyamfi. I also think with three flair players behind the forward, Clarkson is too lightweight for the role, despite being a good player. i don’t know what Shinnie offers. I don’t think he’s box to box any more, he’s not an overly physical presence, not a disciplined holding mid, and not a great passer. I’m a huge fan, I just don’t know how he fits now. sivert is slow and unathletic but we played our best stuff last year with him in the team. He’s also vocal and a leader. Maybe him and palaversa are our best fit? (not best players!?!?) expect milanovic on the right and topi on the bench. A week fitter and sharper nisbet will help too. Also eager to see gyamfi again now that his debut is out the way. Curious if Armstrong starts over aouchiche, plus I know it won’t happen, but would love devlin at right back. I rate Jensen more than most, but I think devlin offers more despite being less technical. 3-1 us. Nisbet karlsson and milanovic.
