  1. Prob not a good comparison but McKenna was average at ayr, got a chance with us due to injury, and the rest is history. Why not spend Jan - June looking at Marshall before we spend on midfielders in the summer, or drag in another loan or two. id prefer to see Marshall and milanovic play before aouchiche. We have two loaners and karlsson is obviously the better of the two, but neither of them help us long term. Aouchiche is this years okkels that I cannot see us spending 1.5 or whatever on him. He’s not bad but surely we can find better for that money, and it makes sense to take a look at Marshall if he’s an attacking midfielder - does he offer more than Aouchiche polvara or palaversa?? Same for kjarten, let’s see what’s he’s capable of. Sivert and shinnie aren’t going to get better, plus we’ve seen enough to know what palaversa can do, surely it’s time to see what kjarten can do in that space. perhaps kjarten is a good fit alongside Clarkson? We’ll never know unless we take a look.

  2. According to the above article,he seems to want to do well at Arbroath to get back in the picture at the Dons

  3. Said it already, given the season, I’d prefer to see Marshall and kjarten given some time over aouchiche palaversa sivert, even Clarkson. None stand out or do enough to merit significant minutes. I’d say shinnie and Armstrong are our top two (even Shinnie is in decline). None are consistently good that why not give kjarten or Marshall a look between Jan and summer before splashing more cash.

  4. Clarke will still be picking those three long after they have retired.

  5. He was also a big fan of Mott The Hoople. I have a feeling I might have to explain that one to many on here

  8. Agreed. But we can never top them winning the WW1 shield.

  9. Franlkly a bit surprised they just didnt shift every game to Wembley and be done with it. Euro 2024 Semi finals: Munich and Dortmund. Final: Berlin Euro 2020 Semi Finals AND final: Wembley Euro 2016 Semi finals: Lyon and Marseille Final: Paris Euro 2012 Semi Finals: Warsaw and Donnesk Final: Kyiv And so on At the very least the Millenium stadium should have had one of the Semis but cant risk England not having home advantage

  10. Clarkson is arguably our most talented plaar; that JT hisna got a tune oot o him is a pretty major failure on his part. That lame performance against Motherwell is the same issue extrapolated: our midfield set-up is a disaster. Naebody up the pitch. Surely the idea of having 3 centre-backs is to give your midfield better chances to get up the pitch?

  11. Fit Rico says. Clarksons best spell was when Robson was caretaker and Ramadani and Shinnie were doing the heavy lifting, allowing Clarkson to do his thing. I also don't buy into him being too lightweight for our league. Whilst not in anyway a natural hardman, he does get stuck in, but it's just not his game.

  12. I disagree. It's the equivalent of saying Billy Gilmour isn't good enough. You adjust the team to get the best out of players like Clarkson, because if you do then they'll create numerous chances. They're the difference between being a sideways, laboured, slow build up team, that hopes for a mistake from the opposition, and a team that makes the incisive pass and brings the attacking players into play when they have their best chance of scoring before the opponent gets back. The fact that we didn't sign anyone to compliment Clarkson, even as an option during games, is criminal. Even Robson knew how to get the best out of him. Clarkson taking the ball from defence and immediately getting the strikers involved, with Ramadani and Shinnie pressing high was a great setup. That, with the option switch and play two defensive midfielders and a number 10 like Armstrong would be a great way to build a squad (midfield). We really only needed one additional signing to do that. There isn't a chance on earth that Marshall is close to the level of Clarkson (that's not a criticism), and the Icelandic laddy looks to me to be a replacement for Nilsen in the squad, but I doubt he'll be getting much time this season. If Polvara is open to being a utility player, then he's worth his weight in gold. Palaversa can leave with many thanks for his only good game.

  13. Presumably if this thread is focussed on AFC-related non-footballing matters we can just merge the Peter Ambrose thread into it?

  14. This is a great thread as saves me looking to see if we had one before about the financial performance of club.

  15. No, because the posts relating to the Brewdog link up were moved from the original 'club stuff' thread to a specific Brewdog thread. Felt his position had become untenable.
