I served my time with Kennedys in the late 80s early 90s. The van mannie would have been Jim Baxter, nae the deid hun, although Jim himself is long gone. He took nae shyte in the bakery either. I was always up to shyte, being a daft young loon with too much energy and I think I might have put salt in his coffee instead of sugar, one of the many daft things I did to wind up the older staff. I got plenty of shyte done to me though. He said, you're a young loon, so you get a warning, try it again and you get a crack on the jaw. The others told me to take heed, as he was the type to hit you first and ask the questions later. Took nae shyte.2 points

No chance! There is only one football. My boys were born in LA and I lived there 17 years, the only American sport I’m really into is the NBA and the lakers, but my older son has one laker top and three Aberdeen tops.1 point

Three signings are essential. Left mid, right mid, two legit wide players, and a Rama center mid. Add the legit center mid and we might get the most out of Clarkson. The more I think about it, he’s not too different from Kenny McLean, and is he can thrive in the SPL, do not see why Clarkson can’t. Play karlsson at 10 in a free role rather than out wide.1 point

True,Robson and Flood for eg lifted a pretty dull side at that time. Now that we appear to have a proper recruitment man in place, lets see what he can muster in Jan before we right abdy off1 point

P&J reporting that Yengi likely to be away in January and apparently some interest in him. Would be no real surprise with that one. Hopefully Ambrose will be away too and get his career back on track. Can't be good being a footballer and not getting to play, regardless of what any of us think of them1 point

Brutal night in more ways than one. Not really much to say that's not been said already. Atmosphere from the word go was flat and this was on and off the pitch. When we took the lead it was literally with our first decent chance and for a guy who has played so little Nisbet deserves great credit for his calmness with the finish. Getting that break just before half time I thought we'd kick on in the second half and possibly score another or two. Noah obviously got an arse kicking in the dressing room and looked like a different team in the second half. At no time after they equalised did I really feel confident of us winning the game and at times they actually looked more like getting a second. A distinct lack of leadership on and off the park on display. Not really one for singling out individuals but totally agree with Rico's comments regarding Karlsson as I lost count of the times I shouted at him for not doing the simple things and when what he tried didn't come off he seemed hell bent on berating those around him. Is he becoming a luxury we can't afford or does Thelin get him told to keep it simple. Didn't realise just how brutal the wind was during the game as was reasonably sheltered in the South Stand. Only when we got onto Merkland Rd afterwards I realised how bad it was. As for the drive down the road, the further south I got, the worse it got. Awful fucking journey home. December is going to be a seriously tough month with the number of games we have coming thick and fast. Much as we might on paper have a reasonable looking run of league fixtures we're going to have to up the ante somewhat to continue climbing the league.1 point

I don't think we'll find out how good a manager he is, as I think we'll sack him before we can find out. It's fucking simple stuff, you get the sporting director in, and then you spend the money. Thelin was appointed on the basis of having a recruitment team doing the work, while he managed the team. He's had to do the recruitment part, which he clearly can't do, but most importantly there is no devil's advocate in there questioning his motives and decision making. To not have a box to box midfielder in place (now relying on Aouchiche to do that, and he was okay last night), was criminal. To fill our team with project players and guys with zero SPFL experience also criminal. To re-sign Nisbet to play a role he can't play, and to sell Morris with no replacement. To have zero plan B. All errors in recruitment and squad building. I have a very strong suspicion that he is getting the best out of our players. Of course, a new manager bounce might temporarily add something, but it'd revert to the mean. We've signed a bunch of very average players, on top of those that were already average, or ageing. Our squad is gash. We need at least seven moved out in January.1 point

Thain's rowies never disappoint, but Ah'm glad tae see a mention o' Kennedy's way back in this thread. Kennedy's did our school (Powis) braddy van .... it would be in the playground for mornin break .... and it would be like a super sized rugby scrum tryin tae get tae the front tae buy a braddie, rowie, custard slice or fitivver .... the braddy mannie thought nithin o' dishin oot a 'clout o' the lug' tae onybody playin too rough .... further back in the 'scrum' there wis nivver a shortage o' guys fa would be armed wi a 'jimmie' (plimsole) tae similarly 'clout' lugs wi in order tae advance their position in the queue/scrum. Add tae that, because the van always parked close tae the school buildin', it was vulnerable tae water bombs launched fae the prefects room above ... and as for bein' an easy target for pea shooters an elastic band propelled pellets .... usually folded paper, but occasionally reinforced wi copper wire or aluminium foil ... and very occasional 'paperless' pellets ... ie - a fkn bent nail! .... well ..... it speaks volumes for the quality o' Kennedy's grub that we would deem the risks worthwhile in order tae secure a rowie/braddy/etc ...... but. When ye made it tae the front o' the queue/back o' the van ... ye could buy yer rowies/braddies ... but that wis nivver the end o' the ordeal. If ye werena careful retreatin' wi yer 'goods' and bein protective o' same, then as soon as ye were clear o' the 'scrum' ye could fa' foul o' the 'pinchers' .... guys fa would grab yer braddy/rowie wholesale or in part afore ye were even clear o' the 'scrum' an' steady on yer feet! ..... and then, half a pace further out, were the 'Gies-a-bitties' .... if ye still had a 'bittie' left tae 'gie'. But, ach .... it wis aa good fun .... til it wisna Sorry for the local history lesson, but Kennedy's rowies were affa good ... as were their braddies .... jist wonderin' tho .... are they still on the go? .... and if so, mair tae the point, are their rowies still as good?1 point

Basically, Thelin doesn’t seem to know how to setup a team to get the best out of the players he’s got. He doesn’t seem to know how to use his players, or play to their strengths (those that have any strengths that is) There is no style, substance or identity to our team, tactics, formation & approach to games (what are the tactics?) His substitutions usually make us worse, they are absolutely baffling. He never makes in game adjustments to reflect the nature of the game or what’s going on. He won’t (or can’t) change his starting formation no matter what. This is not a knee jerk reaction to another poor performance. None of this is new, its been the case for a year now. In summary, I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that he’s just not a very good manager, and just hasn’t got the ability to get us to where we are supposed to be going…1 point

My watching of the game efter a band rehearsal turned intae a pub crawl ... nae lang hame so excuse if Ah dinna mak sense. First half ... some good, dare Ah say clever attackin' moves ... looked like we had it won wi' a good goal fae Nisbet ... nice wee turn in the box under pressure, and a good finish after great work by Keskinen ... 'stealing' possession he had no right tae expect. Second half?? Err ... As Ah've said before, too many occasions where 'clever' play produces nothing due to 'abandonment of 'the basics'. Milanovic epitomises this feature of our second half effort. I commented to my chum ( a good chum even tho he's a Tim ) .... "Milanovic is the guy fa charms the draars aff half a dizzen lassies but gings hame an' wanks intae a sock!" ... Same can be said o' ithers. Total disregard o' fitba basics! Late stages o' the game, it was like any player forward o' the defense, too often chose tae try and impress wi individual skills rather than be a connection within a team. Nae a new phenomenon ... and it always ends with the same outcome unless one such individual produces an individual spark of quality (Lazetic v St Mirren, Keskinen v Hearts .... dare I say, Morris v Celtic .... list inexhaustable ) Ah would like tae comment on the substitutions .... however, it'll prob tak a few days tae mak sense o' them! Ah rarely post negative comments on Dons games, even when we're shite .... but a) Ah'm pished, and b) Ah jist need tae put it on record that Ah thought that was diabolical .... particularly after they scored ... wi their only good move o' the game, and we turned intae a collection o' 10 individuals and a goalie rather than an 11 strong team.1 point

Just in the door five minutes ago at 1.50 am. Not going to put myself off my sleep by saying anything tonight about that pile of shite. Unfortunately already have my ticket for Strasbourg game so going through it all and probably worse in two weeks time. As if that's not bad enough Prague ticket secured also. At least there is always the drink Must be fucking certifiable. Anyone looking for a Livi ticket. Good night all1 point

I don't think he's fixed anything from a month ago, despite the relatively positive results. Defensively I'm not sure we have really improved. I think we just have an extra man in there which means by default second balls in our own box are more likely to fall to a red shirt. Midfield - no improvement. Up front is the same. When Thelin first came in, the first thing I noticed was how well we passed the ball in little triangles. We'd play our way out of trouble. It's clearly something worked on every week in training and even now we still look confident in small pockets of space, and our touch and control is generally good. However, that's it. There's no real substance there. I don't see a game plan. I expected us to play long ball, or "long pass" the Swedes describe his play. It was supposed to be quick transitions, soak up pressure and counter. Elfsborg were comfortable without the ball, but would jockey the opposition into areas they couldn't hurt them. None of that describes how we play. It almost seems like we're getting away with things because we do have good individuals (not to be confused with having a good team). In Thelin's post match interviews he talks a good game, identifies all the things we're not good at. But I don't see any evidence of him ever fixing these issues.1 point

Been a month since a post on this thread, and while results have improved, performances are just as painful. Does anyone see a particular style of play? No clue what we do in training, but we’re a shit watch. Create so little. Cannot pass for shit too or keep the ball. I find it hard to believe jimmy is getting the most out of his squad, and find it hard to understand why our majority of opponents pass and attack better than us. Indeed, other than Lobban Milne Delvin and kneuster, who is playing well or with any level of consistency? I think most of us want jimmy to succeed, but how much patience does Dave have? Wonder if hiring the director of football helps jimmy, or helps speed up a replacement?? Still think jimmy is Dave’s guy, and the fans have been amazing for the team and jimmy, but how much more of this piss can everyone take?1 point

He had a reasonable site of goal late on in the 2nd half, fannied around, the chance was lost and he turned to the SS and did the "give us some backing" motion with his arms...fuck you, mate if you did your job you'd get our backing.1 point

That wasn't worth the money. Really shite performance against a shite team (who scored a nice goal). The conditions weren't great, with both teams struggling to control the ball (they passed it out of play on several occasions). We should still have been walking that game though. No urgency, playing like little kids, regularly not paying attention. The subs, to a man, were honking. Milanovic needs to go on loan in January. He's not athletic enough to play in Scotland, and any technique he might have is hidden by that fact. If he works very, very hard on his fitness, running and strength then he might make it, but there is zero point in persisting. I'm going to save tonight's rage for Karlsson though. The guy's a fucking charlatan. Poncing about like a cunt. Clearly thinks he can come here and automatically be the best player on the park. Jogging around and doing wanker-flicks instead of playing the fucking game. He's a clogged drain. Sucks everything through him and then blocks it, making it impossible for those around him. We need to send him back. We can't be playing him every week.1 point

Nah, just nowhere near good enough. Canna beat a bunch of Armenian goat herders, at home. Pish Frankly, we are just not a good team and not a good watch. I really don’t enjoy watching us at all, its painful stuff. We’re slow, ponderous, disjointed, we have no clear style or pattern of play. Too many players are just played in the wrong place or not capable of playing the formation he wants. Almost every time we break forward we end up checking back and losing any attacking momentum. We dont ever get the ball in the box quickly enough. Its frankly a mess. We’re pretty much halfway through the 3 year project that’s supposed to make us “competitive in Europe”. Your having a laugh, we’re absolutely miles off it. Motherwell have put an attractive footballing side together with basically no cash. They have a clear style, shape and football philosophy - plus players capable of playing in that setup, so our current situation is pretty embarrassing. Lutz has a fair job on his hands & lets hope Mowbray can work his magic again cause this team just isnt ever going to cut it.1 point

A disgraceful second half showing yet again. Thelin makes terrible decisions and is turning us into a turgid, slow, ugly, cynical football team. I really can't see where any improvement is going to come from. Every team we play appear to be able to pass the ball better than us.1 point

Cousin from Aberdeen, hand me down 89/90 top on one of the many trips up to the relatives in Ross-shire. Probably didn’t start properly until I was 15 or so though. Internet changed a lot although always had a Shearer and Jess Shoot poster on the wall1 point
