  1. I would say that was individual errors more than managerial?

  2. If we win tonight, make this the official match thread and lose this one, there will be mutiny on here as Swaddon didn't start it

  3. I guess it's how this system might evolve then. How does it move from cagey, luck-riding, low chance creating, 1-0 wins, to something exciting? Or more exciting, at least. McInnes played a 3-4-3 for a bit, with Watkins, Hedges and some other cunt leading the line, and it was the most entertaining he had been for a few years. It's often a setup that trades excitement for pragmatism though, which isn't the club's strategy, so one way or another Thelin will have to change. Personally, I'm happy enough with short term pragmatism until the personnel are in place, however I'm not sure that we'll ever really get the personnel to perform a 3-4-3 consistently well in our league. I think you could get that with a 3-5-2, or derivative of that setup.

  4. I think you and others are right: it only changes when the players change. So hopefully January but it likely won’t be great until the summer at the earliest. Pragmatic results beat sacrificing points for pretty passes.

  5. One of my Aberdeen group chats on what's app is called the "Nicky Devlin appreciation society" for very good reason. Absolutely adore him!

  6. Give in to what? Winning games? Like it or lump, we're winning more than we're losing now so any expectation that the system will change is very misplaced.

  7. Maybe he's our new Morris

  8. Aye, just home, good game. Very entertaining. A few costly mistakes from all over the park, and off it with the subs. Some really good performances, with Aouchiche probably the only one really off it tonight. Our legs had thoroughly gone by the end, and it showed. Polvara looked knackered, as did the three defenders. I can understand the five subs because of that, but I think Keskinen could have managed to see the game out, with Armstrong looking a little knackered so understandably taken off. A bit unlucky for Thelin I guess, you probably don't expect your sub to go off. VAR does nothing for football. It's making calls that don't matter, and taking fucking ages to do so. It needs to be binned. It's not the operators, as has been seen in Europe, it's anti-sport shite in every single country.

  9. Infuriating. We start to score and our defence goes to pot. We can only imagine how good we could be with a decent manager.

  12. Here is the album Some seriously decent artists covering tracks on the film soundtrack.

  13. That's an interesting route in. I have always thought I should like Dylan more than I do but just don't. I might try that approach

  14. You are onto something. I have bought and listened to music that I would have battered myself for owning a few years back. I have an Elton John album in my collection now and even some Emerson Lake and Palmer.

  15. He does from me. I have a serious man crush on the guy. I love Shinnie and will likely have a tear in my eye when he leaves or retires from playing.

  16. Getting to the point where I have expectation, damnit. We are winning games and they are on a poor run. What if our luck runs out. Or what if we finally click and play well…. I'm now thinking 5-1 us.

  17. I tend to find something new and then listen to it obsessively over a period of time, which drives my wife nuts. Anyway, the last few weeks it's been Tyler Childers, thanks to a road trip on the west coast with my son. We listened to Childers on a day spent on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and I liked it a lot. Generally I'm not a country person, though I do like some of the alt country/bluegrass/americana stuff. I feel like a lot of his output is more in that style, although he fiercely defends it as being country. Anyway, have a listen to this.

  18. I have a lot of hate for both the oldco and their tribute act and even more for any of our players who have taken their coin. I never in a million years thought Miovski would sign for them. He came across as getting us and thought he got our hatred towards them. When I think back to that Sunday afternoon, last August, when our support, me included, gave him a tremendous send off and hoping that our love affair would continue one day. I never imagined he would end up signing for them. Even up to the day he signed, I still thought it was a wind up. Treachery of the highest order when he signed up for them and hoping we get the rabbit toothed c*nt greeting again, when he leaves Pittodrie next month. I also don't buy into giving him a free pass because he is foreign. He knew fine well. Ash Taylor summed him up best on Twitter.... Filth!

  19. I thought the tickets were relatively cheap, as although too young to go, I've read about all there is to read about the bands and the Two Tone scene and I can remember the cheapness of the tickets for what you were getting to see. I think that £2.50, is about £12 today. Mental the value of tickets now. I actually saw The Selecter in Aberdeen, the night before the cup final. They were very good and Pauline Black was amazing. Set me up nicely for the best weekend ever.

  20. I’d compare him a bit to Morris. Shady kept cutting inside when he first played here, even though we all saw he had pace. Pretty sure someone eventually told him to just take the guy on the outside and hit the line every time. Got to the point where he was very successful and got goals and assists. IF we play milanovic on the left, I dont see why we couldn’t have similar. Same potentially with topi on the right. I’ve seen inverted wingers work, but it isn’t for us, would really like to see them on the other side and told to attack on the outside.

  21. So having resurrected the music thread it is time to get the book one back up and running. First thing is first @manc_don I have just read the first Walter Lucius book again as I see that the third one in the trilogy was eventually published. It was every bit as good second time around. Think it must have been eight or nine years ago we were reading them

  22. Agree 100% with every word of that. Wish he was 22 not 32 and I would be giving him a five year contract

  24. Also going to be a superbowl style half-time show at the World Cup final. Coldplay were helping to pick the acts and have come up with J Balvin, Doja Cat and Tems (no, me neither).
