It would be good for him to go back to Sweden and his family. Normally I'm glad when we punt a manager that isn't performing, but I feel strangely bereft at Jimmy leaving. I really wanted it to work out for him, especially after the way he started. It's partly his fault it didn't happen, and partly the players.6 points

You wouldn't have expected anything else but class from him. When he first was appointed I was renewing my dna membership and the people in the office were so impressed by him, saying he's just a lovely guy, a real gentleman...maybe not what you need as manager? Really sad it didn't work out for him.5 points

The drones online are calling for the boy fae Motherwell to be appointed. 20-odd games into his first season??? No the fuck thanks.4 points

By all accounts, the players liked him, but thought he was too soft on those who stepped out of line, and ultimately that loses you a bit of respect in the dressing room. Yesterday raised alarm bells. It's been poor for a while, but I kinda still felt he was slowly getting his head around things, but it was such a calamity at Falkirk that it was hard to make a case for him beyond the weekend. But I'm glad he left before I started to get so rattled by performances I began to dislike him. A throughly decent man who led us to the Scottish Cup, but hopefully we've made the right decision.4 points

Class from Thelin there - “Today my time as manager at Aberdeen comes to an end. It is with great respect for this historic Club that I accept this decision. “Results ultimately decide the tenure of this profession, and as such I take my share of responsibility. “I believe wholly in the work that was done; however, football doesn’t always allow time for belief to become results. I would like to thank the players for their commitment and effort during my time as their coach, and the staff who worked every day with loyalty and pride. “I would also like to thank the supporters. Your passion for your team never waivers, even in disappointment. “Aberdeen will forever be a part of my journey, and it has been an honour to lead this great Club and share that memorable day together at Hampden. “I leave wishing success to everyone involved both on and off the pitch.”4 points

Scrub all that, we’re gonna go down there now and wipe the fuckin floor with those hun bastards…4 points

It’s not supposed to be up the manager - who I suspect will actually be a head coach - to sign players now anyway. That’s what pfannensteil is for. Same for outgoings. No point in a sporting director if you need a manager to buy or sell players. That’s the model we’ve got now so other than not being able to sell the club to prospective signings, the head coach position being vacant shouldn’t prevent progress being made on sales or signings.3 points

I echo a lot of the words already spoken in that I'm really sad this is how it has turned out. From that POV it certainly helps that his last game was a narrow defeat (however limp dicked the performance was) away to Falkirk and not a papping off der hun at mordor 2bf. If there's any truth in rumours and he ends up at AIK that's a bonus as we likely will have had to pay minimum compensation, if any. So, moving forward, this is the first big test for LP. It will be interesting to see just how much free reign he gets with the new manager position given how hands on Cormack likes to be. My hope is though that fabled black book of his provides some candidates that none of us have heard of at the very least.2 points

I had really hoped he could turn it around. I like the guy, but results weren't there with no sign of changing. Thanks for the cup and that initial winning streak Jimmy. Sorry it didn't work out and good luck in the future2 points

Fair point min ... Robson's early stats are also pretty damn good .. and we all know how that transpired. Should also be noted that Leven's 11 games, he played Smelltic twice. Ah'm nae for a second suggestin' Peter Leven is the 'Messiah', but to me he's a safer bet (Should Jimmy go) than any Ah can think o' that we could realistically appoint - at least in the short term. (... and errm ... is it jist co-incidence, or have we got worse since the moment Lutz turned up )2 points

Well according to a couple of sources on here he's already offered to resign twice.. which would imply he isn't actually waiting for the sack and looking for a pay-off...assuming these sources are correct, of course.2 points

Fun fact: Steven Pressley scored twice for Aberdeen in his playing career. Both own goals.1 point

There was nowhere left to go. A cup win gave JT longer than he should have had but the football on display week in week out was eye bleedingly bad. The players should hang their heads in shame and be following him out of the door.1 point

He was a good lad and he won us the cup and had us believing for a while at the start of last season that we could be contenders, but it just didn't work out for whatever reason. All the best to him, unless he joins another club in Scotland.1 point

Genuinely sad it hasn’t worked out but it’s definitely the right move by the club and hopefully somebody can take a fresh look at some of the fringe players.1 point

Works hard but is too slow for the position he plays, passing is not great, shooting even worse, tries too many flicks that have low chance of success at best and overall seems to think his responsibility for possession retention ends as soon as the ball breaks contact with his foot. I think Clarkson is better at just about every aspect of football.1 point

Harsh on Keskinen. Works his arse off, and would say when he came on at Hibs he showed how he can make an impact (most similar player we have to Morris). There's a player there, but like others is arguably mismanaged - in and out of the team, given various different roles, not given much help from more experienced teammates. Would also say it's a bit early to give up on Gyamfi. Hasn't ever had a run of injury free games.1 point

Here's one for you Two footed Scottish U21 international with over a 100 senior games under his belt. Can't really say that he has ever really caught my eye, but maybe I am just blind https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/dundee-fc/5405667/aberdeen-linked-dundee-star-luke-graham/1 point

Whatever the game plan, we’ll play like timid, scared wee lassies, totally surrender all possession & territory & not lay a glove on them - or have a shot on target. Pretty much same as every game then…1 point

Struggle to see what he’s brought to the club at all. Remote working should have been a red flag.1 point

I really don't know where I stand on Thelin anymore. A few weeks ago I was confident he was getting January to make signings, and then at least until the split. And, I do kinda feel he deserves to defend the Scottish Cup. The Falkirk game for me though was one where the spotlight was really being shone on Thelin. Yes he went four at the back, but 4-2-4 didn't work. Then 4-2-3-1 with Armstrong at No.10 looked fairly promising as Armstrong began to look a threat. He kept that for 24 minutes before switching it again with Nisbet playing off Lazetic. That lasted six minutes before another change. That's just flinging darts and hoping for something. What now for Ibrox? Go five at the back again? Start Karlsson but haul him off like he does every game when he's doing little? Keep starting one of Nisbet and Lazetic despite neither working as a lone striker? Shinnie benched again with Devlin shoehorned in somewhere to take the armband? I've got no confidence in this team anymore, and I struggle to see Thelin having a really clear plan of what to do. My guess is the first half will be one game plan and it'll be ripped up at half-time.1 point

Trump now talking about running Venezuela on an interim basis and “helping” open up their vast oil fields. Guaranteed these rights are handed out to Trumps friends in the U.S. by whichever puppet he instals. Wonder when Maduro gets Epsteined. At least we know what Trump was getting from Putin for selling out Ukraine.1 point

Senegal 3-1 winners over Sudan in early game. Mali beat Tunisia on penalties in second game. Mali down to 10 from half way through the first half. Tunisia looked liked they had won it in last minute of normal time only for Mali to be awarded a soft penalty (a recurring theme in AFCON this year) in 6th minute of injury time to make it 1-1 and take it to extra time. No goals in extra time and on to penalties which Mali managed to win 3-2 by missing less.1 point

Mowbray at least has a track record of finding us some decent players. I’m not sure what his “consultant” role actually involved last summer either. This boy Almeda has frankly been an unmitigated disaster. I don’t think we’ve made even one half decent signing on his watch. He should go now along with Thelin…1 point

I had a look on PJM Mad to cheer myself up. Looking through the match thread, they seem to have the exact same problems as us ‘We've signed a lot of players who aren't suitable for the cut and thrust of Scottish football. Playing a higher line, having a sweeper keeper, inverted wingers, wing-backs. I'll gladly take a keeper catching a ball. Full-backs over lapping a winger or right/left sided midfielder. A midfielder who will create time for spreading the ball about for a teammate in space. A twin pairing strike force that will occupy the opponents centre-halves and create an understanding with one another. Not much to ask for, but it seems these ways aren't the way football is to be played these days. 343 wildly exposed and once the opposition have the lead we offer the same meek predictable offerings time and again.’ Thelin is just a Swedish Jim Goodwin1 point

That was awful beaten by a piss poor Falkirk team. We were lacking all over the field. So many players miles off it. Some playing poorly but others because they are nowhere near the required standard. Switching to 4 at the back didn’t produce the results we were all hoping. Thelin chucking some of players under bus does make me think it’s a question of time before he walks or is fired. One thing I would say is the recruitment team should be sharing the blame for this with Thelin. They have brought in a number of players over the summer who are clearly not good enough and if/when Thelin goes they should go with him.1 point

Its all just more words though at the end of the day. Its his squad and his dressing room. Ok, others have input but he’s right there too. He’s assembled a squad with zero fight, physicality, aggression and leadership. Every issue we have on the football side has him front and centre as a reason for it. Lets hope he offers to resign again and this time the club does the right thing…1 point

Whilst it’s hardly consolation given our surrender today, I had a keek into the Jutebastards’ Footymad forum, and the comments on their loss. Like their previous self-frottage over every manager appointed since the internet allowed us insights to their twisted synapses, ‘Sir Jim’ is now getting the ‘fuck him’ revisionist treatment. He’s a fucking fraud who should never have been anywhere near Pittodrie, but he’s a good fit for those plastic wankers. i have subsequently sanitised my hands.1 point

If memory serves me right the next day the red tops had a story of a Tic fan who bet his entire life savings (circa £13k) on a Celtic victory at odds of 1-13. Russell Anderson's header snatched his £1k profit and possibly his marriage too1 point

First half the Tims were the better team. Second half the huns came out, went at them and they fell apart - again. We of course just sat off all day and let them play with no pressure at all. Its our culture though, has been for literally decades now - timid, spineless acceptance that we just can’t compete, no matter what…1 point

Crumbling stadium is on Milne. He deliberately let it rot for years. The council have led us a merry dance on the new ground too. Training facilities are good, not their fault they are not being used to any great effect. They only exist because of Cormack. He deserves a slagging for the naming thing though. He’s backed his manager 100% financially. Given him everything and more he could expect. I can’t criticise him for that. The football side is an ongoing shambles though and he has to take the blame for that too. Its nowhere near good enough…1 point

Make that 20 premier league matches played and scored in in the first half in 4 of them!!!! Add in it's now 4 points from losing positions in 12 games. Sorry but Pele's team, McGhee's team, Alex Millers team would beat this current team comfortably. Time is well and truly up for Jimmy. Lets not waste money in Jan on any players for him as it's just money down the drain.1 point

Didn't watch it and didn't know it was on. However...I did see the BBC Sport headline at what would have been half time and it said Celtic wiped them off the park and should have been clear. I just went on to Kerrydale street and the entitlement is off the scale. Greatest fans in the world though and I take great satisfaction that it all started to unravel for them on that beautiful day back in May of last year.1 point

Tims folding like a cheap suit yet again. Just makes our latest spineless capitulation down there the other week look even worse. Even a tiny bit of belief, attacking intent and positivity and this lot would have fallen apart - but no, timid sitting off it was Bag o shite….1 point

60 (sixty) years ago today, 3 January 1966, I was privileged to be allowed to attend Pittodrie for the first time. Jimmy Wilson and Billy Little had us 2-0 ahead at HT. Perth scored three in the second half. Every time I see Chalky Whyte, I give him grief for spending the second half on his butt as the pitch was icebound, and Saints players had changed into better footwear for the conditions. It was neither my best day, nor my worst as a Red.1 point

Not sure he can pile in and capture the leader of another country without Congress approval, however that doesn’t usually stop the mad cunt. He must be terrified of what’s in the Epstein files to start a war with another country.1 point

I suspect blinlemon is referring to the fact there have been regular protests outside a hotel in Falkirk by concerned locals/racist cunts for a number of months now. Seem to be a particularly vile bunch from the photos on line although from the number of Hun tops in the photographs I doubt many of these knuckle dragging fucknuggets will be at game on Saturday.1 point
