This cheered me up. The comments on the Killie post on Twitter announcing this are also well worth a read - especially from Notts County fans. This was my favourite: “There was literally a highly contagious virus raging through the #notts squad in December and he didn’t even catch that ”6 points

This is a fucking disgusting, tone deaf, tinpot, shite move. Learned fuck all from the Scales and Christie ("we very nearly signed him though") debacles. I fucking hate fitba.2 points

Haha. Guess my post was cold! None of the players ‘leaving’ although am I wrong in the typo??2 points

This is progress. Players moving on. Worst case, like Vinny, it’s another loan, but it’s some money off the books. We need to move players on from our badly bloated squad. i know there is frustration with the lack of players coming in, but I he we have to create some space/funds too. none of the players living are good enough, regardless of poor quality we have in our first 11. Cameron is an odd one, we have Clarkson Armstrong and Marshall all playing that position. Not really what we need. Certainly not a lot without the option. Would prefer Marshall got an opportunity to be honest.2 points

Sokler and Vinny definitely prove the old line that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Both were spectacularly average. Nowhere near what we need to actually progress and get better. I agree they are no worse than some of the dross we have here now, but by fuck that’s an incredibly low bar. Nothing against either and I wish them the very best in their careers, but they are absolutely not what we need moving forward…2 points

Klauß actually means "victory of the people", which is the type of thing you want in your manager. Thelin means "protector of the people". Nice, but perhaps too defensive and cautious, and slow to react when we need to go on the offensive. Pfannenstiel means "panhandle"...2 points

Better than Ambrose and Yengi isn't saying much... Lazetic is only 21 so has time on his side. Sokler was never going to be better than "alright" and that's not what we need right now or in the future so getting any kind of cash for him is a good move imo.2 points

On the plus side the meltdown from the smug cunt of a Falkirk fan in my office when I told him McGlynn was favourite was almost worth McGlynn getting the job.2 points

Would he be able to work alongside Lutz and Cormack though? I don't think he would. I'd say he would be too long in the tooth for our set up, to have someone like Lutz, telling him how to play the game.1 point

I wouldn't be adverse to McGlynn, and if he was 20 years younger with hair and minus the baseball cap, he'd probably be a shoe-in. I think McGlynn almost does himself out of big jobs because his face doesn't fit. He has that lower league gaffer look about him and that's how people view him. However, if Falkirk had decent strikers they'd be above Motherwell and Hibs right now. I hear the same thing from McGlynn most weeks that they had so many chances but couldn't finish. You do feel if the man had a budget he'd do very well. I met him in summer - which every potential Aberdeen manager should be doing to be honest - and can confirm he's a very likeable guy.1 point

Sokler's chance to really kick on and stake a place in the team was after his wonder goal at Easter Road, but he spent most of the second half of last season injured. He was unlucky in that respect, but between the Hibs game & his injury, he started four out of five games and didn't score in any of them, and the Hibs goal was his only one since October, so he wasn't exactly a striker in form. It didn't look good that we sent him out on loan though, but kept Ambrose and signed Yengi. And from memory he looked okay in both legs v FCSB. Really, we should have given him a chance, but if we're looking at Hearts and Hibs as our benchmark, is he as good as Shankland, Braga or Boyle? I'd argue Nisbet better than him too.1 point

If we get Klaus can we change our name to Red Bull Aberdeen - we have a ready made mascot1 point

McGlynn has done a fabulous job at Falkirk. As mentioned though, he was a disaster at the diets so that’s a massive red flag. He’s also a fair age now so that’s doesn’t help. I think he’s found his level and a good fit at the bairns, so its a no fae the Moog jury - but then I’ve been pretty clear who I want already…1 point

Exactly, its fucking embarrassing the way we’re carrying on just now. Clubs completely lost the plot. Somebody needs to have a quiet word with the penguin pilferer about the do’s & dont’s of AFC culture. For avoidance of doubt Lutz - this is one big fucking don’t…1 point

That Nobel Peace prize thing is a bit of a brass can. Does nobody get embarrassed anymore?1 point

I'd rather have McGlynn than Robinson, that's for sure. Although I'd also hope that club had potentially more exciting options lined up.1 point

The loan would be completely unacceptable to any right thinking Dandy. I'm fairly certain that Cormack will know that. I'd wait for confirmation before throwing my season ticket into the sea. But, aye, we don't need him. There isn't the room to play him and Clarkson. Probably isn't room for him and Armstrong. He has the potential to be very good if he can do the yards on the pitch.1 point

Remember when we helped develop Ryan Christie for the smellies, then he scored the winner against us in a cup final? That was good fun1 point

Went down a Robert Klauß rabbit hole. Firstly, loads of videos of his training sessions on YouTube for anyone who has a fetish for that sort of thing. An Austrian podcast was saying it was a surprise he was sacked by Rapid. Appeared he was doing a solid enough job there, had put together a good squad after taking over a poor side, and they were in the last eight of the Conference League. However, they then lost 10 out of 16 games in a horror run, and also got knocked out of the Austrian Cup by a lower league side, and that finished him. However, before that run, the feeling was he was doing such a good job that he was going to be poached away that summer. Appears to like a 4-4-2 that turns into a 4-2-2-2, with his wingers tucking and his full backs overlapping. Pros: Very highly respected coach. Has worked with Ragnick & Nagelsmann. The type of guy you would love as your assistant manager. Cons: Is he too big a risk as a manager? Didn't get Nürnberg promoted in two attempts, and despite a positive start at Rapid he then hit terrible form and, like Thelin, couldn't turn it around. But there has been interest in him from Spain and Cyprus and he turned down both roles, so clearly still highly thought of.1 point

Absolutely. Permanent deal fine. Loan with option to buy (our call) fine. Straight loan - fuck that. We’re not a feeder / development club for anyone up here - especially those cunts. Have some fuckin self respect AFC will ya ffs…1 point

Being reported as a loan deal. If there is no option to buy then should be a hard no. As I have said before fuck developing players for either of the bigots.1 point

That picture has the haunted look that most Cormack era, Aberdeen managers have. He really isn't the man for us.1 point

Some analysis on Klaus here: https://totalfootballanalysis.com/head-coach-analysis/robert-klaus-202425-rapid-wien-tactical-analysis-tactics They lost me at “Klauß prioritises verticality over ball security.”1 point

I'm currently watching the St Mirren game, and they have been awful. Bear in mind they've played against 10 men since the 14th minute and have had one shot on target. I fear Cormack is looking at McInnes's impact at Hearts and thinks Robinson will do the same here; forgetting that McInnes has been helped massively by the recruitment at Hearts. He wouldn't have us at the top of the league, and neither would Robinson. The two Germans mentioned are Markus Gisdol and Robert Klaus. Klaus (or Klauß) is an interesting one. Plays a 4-4-2 / 4-2-2-2, had Rapid Vienna in the Conference League quarters, but hasn't really had any long term success. But you could say, neither has Askou who has impressed at Motherwell. Maybe just lacks a bit of experience and his next club will get the benefit - he's been linked with some English Championship clubs. Certainly the most intriguing of the three.1 point

Reckon we just aren’t on the Media radar at the moment while ‘they’ are recovering from their respective tantrums, Jambos are sweeping the footballing world of all trophies available and Motherwell are playing like 70s Ajax there is nothing of interest in Aberdeen.1 point

It's pretty depressing Emma Burrows was put in a position where felt the need to post this I have to say. Sounds like they have been through the ringer as a family, my best pals wife had 2 miscarriages in short order and I've seen what it does to relationships close up. If you read this Alan and Emma all the best to you.1 point
