  1. I'm going to defend Lutz here. Bigger clubs than us have had vacancies at the same time, and have been happy to just appoint interims until the end of the season. Man Utd (Carrick), Celtic (O'Neill - for the second time this season) are two such examples. Had we just said "Leven until the end of the season", would we have been happy? It's coming up to three weeks, which isn't that long. As long as he appoints him within the next week, and the boy wins at least two trophies - at least one of which needs to be a European trophy - then I'd say the wait was worth it.

  3. Sounds like the end for Suman if 18 months. Hopefully some real competition for Mitov now.

  5. Aye, but the change isn't really for the better. We are quite possibly just legacy fans with no place in the modern game. I mean, I don't even do AberDNA and yet here I am, on here complaining about our latest signing. The cheek of it.

  6. Unfortunately he's not a winger though. But, aye, he's definitely a good signing on that front. Run in a straight line and harass defenders. A Sokler replacement if you like. Edit: a loan deal, for this type of player is completely acceptable. A potential super sub with a bit of experience. Probably not likely to be a long term solution but may allow us to test out new systems that would suit a player of his profile. Crucially, not a type of player that we already have.

  7. BBC Gossip Page today: "Hearts are hoping to beat Norwich City to the signature of 25-year-old striker Kasper Hogh, who scored a double in Bodo/Glimt's Champions League win over Manchester City. " BBC Sport webpage 2 days ago: "A fee of just over £6m is thought to be enough to acquire Hogh and BBC Norfolk understands , externalthe former Denmark Under-21 international wants to join the Championship club." Either Hearts are really going for it or BBC need to curate their gossip sources a wee bit better.

  8. We’re in this depressing Goldilocks Zone where we expect to be better than the rest but we’ll never afford players to do it. As you say, being well organised, difficult to beat with some youth players coming through and everyone would be happy(ish) Do that and our slightly larger budget should see us above the shite more often than not

  9. Classic thread on abmad about Hoggy’s plan to jet ski to Norway - ambition was better than actual delivery it’s a bit like our transfer policy

  11. It takes as long as it takes, Leven is clearly a safe pair of hands so I don't see the rush 2bh

  15. In the nicest possible way fuck right off with talk of that night. I had just about erased my attendance at it from my memory bank but that's me in for a spell of sleepless nights again.

  16. 44 years ago today, since a young Hilton loon called John Hewitt, scored after 9 seconds, against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup. We wouldn't lose again in the SC, until 17th April 1985. Also on this day in 1988. Charlie Nicholas, scored his first goal for the Dons, in a 2-1 defeat, down at Motherwell. Maybe their revenge from 1982! There is also a press story listed from 1950, with talk about a 70,000 capacity stadium for Aberdeen. https://www.afcheritage.org/history/on-this-day/70000-seat-stadium-for-pittodrie?id=810

  17. I find the very thought of AberDNA morally repugnant No offence to anyone that’s bought it like

  18. To be fair to McGlynn I think he is being unfairly stereotyped based on his age (and probably appearance). As can be seen from his LinkedIn page, he's fluent in Cormackese which suggests he'd be handy firing out tactical analysis slide decks on a laptop: https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-mcglynn-3a53586b/?originalSubdomain=uk • Talent focused – Identify early, mentor, develop, perform and maximize value • Organised and structured with a results focused attitude

  19. A decent interview with the loon. Disappointing only in his omission of any reference to Huns and Tims being bigoted inbred throwbacks, Shankland being a lead-swinging tossbag, and of the necessary desire to avenge the Jute assault on Funso Ojo

  20. Problem with McGlynn is we are observing him years into a project at Falkirk where he has had the time to build a squad of guys who will run through walls for him. This Falkirk team/club didn’t spring up from nowhere in 3 months. We know he’s never getting the time to run that process at the Dons. We don’t have the players with the character to snap into that set up. He’d have to clear the decks and start all over.
