  1. Care to elaborate? Stewart Milne offered him a hoose to stay in then realised he doesn’t have any to offer… I am at the stage where if it is not this guy will be someone else and whoever it is good luck to them

  2. If he was really worried about not being able to compete with the Glasgow teams would he really be kicking about the city for the best part of a week?

  3. I’d be reluctant to believe anything in the media as we’ve become very good at keeping our business secret over the last few years. Frustrating for us as fans but not a bad thing really.

  4. I've just looked at that season on AFC Heritage. In April 1964, we played seven games, all but one of which were away from home. And we lost the home game (0-2 to Clyde). Also, the following season, we played Dundee on New Year's Day, then faced St Johnstone the following day. And today's footballers complain they have no rest between games.

  5. I did hear Sheridan was back in the political ring, but didn't know for which party. I should have guessed. I was a big supporter of him once upon a time and was a proud supporter of the SSP, but you can't trust a person who changes their football allegiances and becomes a hun in the process. That, for me, is beyond the pale.

  6. In the 1981-82 season, there was no proper fitba between the middle of December and the end of January. AFC Heritage says we played Hearts in a friendly during that time, as well as Norwich away and Benidorm away in friendlies. Fergie must have fancied a break in the sun that week.

  7. Winter of 2010 or '11 must have been up there, described at the time as worst winter for a century

  9. Don't know the number but we didn't play for 6 weeks in the winter of '63.

  10. I'm well known for a being a dandy in my home town. When we won the cup last year I had a lot of messages from people wishing me well which was lovely. I have to say though, at least 50% were celtic fans. In particular my pal Gary's message sticks in my mind. Words to the effect of "I was fucking raging when mitov saved from Johnson until it cut to Aberdeen fans going mental. Instantly thought of you and all the shit you've been through over the years and couldn't not be delighted for you." I must admit I was very touched to get that message.

  11. Hopefully Dundee United won't survive the next week either.

  12. He would have been a team-mate of Fergie's at Falkirk in 1972-73. My dad told me once that he attended the 1970 cup final, and many Celtic fans stopped to congratulate him on Aberdeen's victory on his way home. I don't want to get all maudlin, but I wish I had asked him more about following the Dons in the 1960s and 70s. Cannae now.

  13. I’ve just seen the club announcement. I think only Bobby Clark, Chalky (Tam’s best pal), Jinky, and Jimmy Wilson from the 1967 cup final team are still on the right side of the turf. Of the 1970 cup-winning team, Bobby Clark, Jim Hermiston, George Murray, Martin Buchan, Joe Harper, Bumper, and George Buchan are still extant. Tam was also Inverness Thistle (RIP) player-manager, and when he came back to the city as a taxi driver was aye good for a pint in the cricket club at Mannofield. I was at a Football Memories session at Pittodrie about 3 years ago, and it was sad to see how dementia had affected him. Ach.

  14. As long as it is not passing it from full back to centre half to other centre half to other full back and back again- possession with purpose is needed, not possession for the sake of it to stop the other team having the ball and doing absolutely fuck all with it, until one of said centre backs gives it away and defence is left exposed or retaining possession from a goal kick by having centre back pass the ball along the 6 yard box to Mitov, who is then under pressure to do something with it which he is not very good at If that bio is accurate, he likes possession in the opponents half, not the low block, so that would definitely be a positive

  15. Aye, that has formatted so badly it actually resembles our team defending a corner.
