  1. It's amazing how much people are winding themselves up over their own interpretations of guesswork being published by sports reporters who themselves have no real idea of what is going on other than this Norwegian chap had been openly sightseeing around the city for 2 whole business days before they were remotely aware that he was under consideration. If we can save a few £000k's in compensation by waiting a wee bit while we're not actually playing any games and have someone semi-competent keeping training ticking over, then it makes sense to do so. And taking a job in another country away from where your family are, it's a big impact on your personal life and not something you can expect someone to take lightly. Allowing someone in that position to take some time to do some research, discuss with family, etc, is not a sign of weakness or a slight on our stature as a football club. Basically, calm doon.

  2. Leven says he's had the squad play a match against each other. I bet they both lost.

  3. Think we need to keep some perspective on what we can reach for in terms of manager. We are unlikely to be buying in a market for experienced European managers who have a successful track record at a number of clubs. Very much like the players we are shopping for, we are taking a degree of risk with those who have shown performance at some point on their career but may have drifted off that trajectory. If they had continued to grow (Palaversa, Aouchiche etc and Horneland) we wouldn’t be close to getting them. It’s a calculated risk that hasn’t really paid off so it’s reasonable to question the strategy but if we bin that idea then we go down the McGlynn route. No guarantees that doesn’t fall flat on its face either. Knowing the Scottish game isn’t a recipe for success. Someone like McGlynn has spent a long time crafting Falkirk, would we give him that time?

  4. It's hardly realistic if you're jumping to conclusions without knowing any of the facts. The person tasked with fixing the "shambles" has only been in the job for about 2 months. So aye, calm doon.

  6. Hi first time on this chat be gentle. I personally don't think any managers in scotland appeal at the moment ( apart from steve clarke but don't think he would come to us and don't fancy waiting til summer either) so hoping this guy horneland takes the job and hopefully we eventually start playing some exciting football and maybe even start to win games. But whoever gets the job we all need to get behind them and give them a chance SF

  7. Just saw Wes Streeting described as ‘The offspring of Ruth Davidson fucking Thomas the Tank Engine’ Anyway, it looks like it was him that encouraged Sarwar to commit political seppuku.

  8. As said, pal over the years / decades I have learnt that the best way to be as a dons fan is to lower your expectations. but you ask what are m expectations so ok I will answer that mate. A team on the park that tries their best every fukin week, game after game irrespective who the opposition is. A team on the park that when the final whistle goes after every single fkn game we as fans can be proud of them and say at least they had a fukin go and gave it their all. Sadly over the last umpteen fkn years we can count on one hand the amount of times the above has happened, and I have no idea why that is. But fk me it's not a lost to ask (is it)

  9. There is not one footballing success metric by which Aberdeen FC are not the 3rd club in Scotland. Its why the diets and spoon burners constantly obsess about attendances, its all they have to try and pretend they’re bigger clubs, laughable really. As for the pikeys, they just dream of being us…

  13. Sums it up well. And no, as a fanbase we'd give McGlynn even less time to build a squad than we have given any other manager recently. I don't imagine that collectively we're much different to most other groups of fans - a winning team on the pitch is really the only thing that keeps us happy. Otherwise no-one's getting any time to do anything before the support turns on them.

  14. ^^^^^^ This with bells on. Sensible words Slim As I said on Saturday or Sunday on this thread, it's not about the money as to why he hasn't taken it yet

  15. Sarwar is looking at taking a hiding in May and is trying to shift the blame. Yesterday was purely an act of attempted self preservation and a very poorly executed one. I suspect the reason that nobody else put their head above the parapet is that they also know that Labour are likely to lose in the upcoming coming by election and have a terrible result in May elections so they are as well leaving Starmer in place to take the blame and punt him afterwards.

  16. He wants to see us in action first before telling us “thanks, but no thanks”, as McGlinn, Robinson and others will likely do too when the shortlist is exhausted and they realise that they are at the bottom of the list - the long one I mean. It’s a complete shambles to be frank, and beyond embarrassing.

  18. I’ve just seen the club announcement. I think only Bobby Clark, Chalky (Tam’s best pal), Jinky, and Jimmy Wilson from the 1967 cup final team are still on the right side of the turf. Of the 1970 cup-winning team, Bobby Clark, Jim Hermiston, George Murray, Martin Buchan, Joe Harper, Bumper, and George Buchan are still extant. Tam was also Inverness Thistle (RIP) player-manager, and when he came back to the city as a taxi driver was aye good for a pint in the cricket club at Mannofield. I was at a Football Memories session at Pittodrie about 3 years ago, and it was sad to see how dementia had affected him. Ach.
