I should add I saw enough to suggest we do have a chance in the cup tie. Definitely.4 points

All this Fyvie talk has reminded me of another lost Classic Thread from AbMad. It was basically puns related to places in the North East of Scotland. Ones that I can remember include "I hope Fyvie gets fu-Kintore into the Old Firm" and "if he has a girlfriend and he has a bad game, I hope he doesn't Ballater".3 points

Just reminded me of one of SF Eds headings - "Turriffic Fyvie signs New deer...er deal"2 points

I have no idea how that’s going to shape up. I had to dial up AFC Heritage’s website to identify fa half the feckers are. I think the last time I was this uncertain was when we played Celtic in January 66, and Turnbull played Ally Shewan at right back, and John McCormick (centre half) at left back, with some new-fangled midfield formation that I failed to understand. We beat the green mob 3-1 though! I am very old. https://www.afcheritage.org/matches/match-report?id=27232 points

B.U.S has already stated he doesn't want the Norwegian and will have a "Sack the manager" thread up once the appointment is confirmed and before we've played our first game.2 points

Whilst correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation, would agree - it was very striking that our fortunes dropped off a cliff after Bajrami left. Think this was compounded by the lengthy injury to key players at the same time, Mitov in particular.2 points

I'm not having this. It wasn't a lucky start to the season. It was a team that needed to improve to keep the run going, and unfortunately didn't, but they earned every single one of those wins, the same way I wouldn't suggest the three months without a win after it was "unlucky". If anything, considering Hibs were very fortunate with some refereeing decisions in various games in the run in, we were perhaps UNLUCKY not to have had a chance of third on the final day. And as for the cup, what was lucky about it? We actually trailed for most of the game due to Celtic getting some good fortune. Let's not denigrate one of the best days in our recent history. Thought that sentence was leading up to Panda there2 points

I don't mind Hibs, how can anyone not like Hibs. Such a generous club who usually always find a unique way to grab defeat from the jaws of victory As for the caravan dwelling, third force of Dundee. I probably dislike them more than any other team in Scotland. I've worked with many fans of different clubs over the years, but never met such a deluded fan base as the caravan dwellers.1 point

I despise rangers with a passion. But for some reason Celtic not so much. Maybe dislike hearts more than Celtic. Interesting 3 team race, tighter after today. Really want a hearts crumble like 1986.1 point

One thing I will say about Aremu was he seemed disciplined to stay in front of centre half’s and didn’t go wandering- whether he actually managed to block the space and through balls, not so sure, but though the middle they generally didn’t play through the lines as much as the last time we played them biggest problem was down our right would not be averse to Lobban being on the right of 4-4-1-1 midfeld as a stopgap as he can put a cross in and normally wants to be positive- Jensen just looks for the safe ball, but he wasn’t helped at all with Olusanya defensively Geiger looked decent enough- but any better than Auchiche? Hopefully with games he will do well Going forward from the wings Topi tries but frustrates and Olusanya makes us narrow- felt sorry again for Nisbet who is feeding off of scraps Cameron tried hard but thought he was poor- add Frame and Morrison to that. McIntyre looked better if the 2 chs Lazetic is a waste of a shirt the goalie looks more comfortable with ball at his feet than Mitov Will take the positives into Wednesday where that will be season saving game1 point

I'm reasonably happy with that second half. Obviously the new boys are not match fit and it'll take time for everyone to gel but yes there are definitely green shoots of improvement there.1 point

Didnt think there was that much between the sides.Should've learned a few things about ourselves, and 'Well. Few tweaks and a hopefully better performance on Wednesday1 point

We've got a lot of very stupid players, who seem to have zero game sense at all, constantly giving away stupid free kicks or getting drawn in unnecessarily (see that goal just now). Lazetic has been the stupidest today though.1 point

Red tinted specs there. Cant remember a proper foul by Motherwell. Can’t argue with most if not all of ours.1 point

Lazetic looks totally off it so far. As sharp as nisbet appeared to be, he’s the opposite.1 point

Unfortunate to be one down but defense not tight enough, understandably given it’s a very new back 4pluskeeper.1 point

4-2-3-2?? looks like leven just said fuck it! Will be interesting!! not quite sure why Jensen over devlin even Robban though? Given the newness of so maybe, could have thought devlin would be the better option with his leadership and communication.1 point

Apparently not. He had a nipper with him when he was at the Youngstars open day (I was among the community coaches offering skills training to the kids) in the early part of our current century, so it would add up. I think he has two families, the poor bastard.1 point

This could be a home win, a draw or a Dons win. Hard to say which. What I can say is if much rather win the Cup game than win today.1 point

The Doc will have our team well tuned for today. The Don's are back baby. Fuck Motherwell 2-3 - Well tuned engine aside, still some bodywork to patch up. COYR1 point

Had almost forgotten we had a game today. Has bit of a preseason game feel to it for me with almost a new team who have never played together. No idea how we line up today. Some of players have hardly played/not played since May so are probably not going to be match fit. If game was yesterday would have been able to head over but not able to today but not as put out about that as I would be normally. Motherwell look a goal scoring striker away from being a really good side. This would have been a really difficult game even if we were playing well. oot Town Town Town 2-0 no Dons scorer1 point

I think you will find that "statement" is Bullshit min I have stated I am now at the stage that i dont give a flying fuk who our next manager is. But if it is the Norwegian I wish him good luck. If it is not hm then I guess it will eventually be someone else and whoever that is I will wish them good luck as well....................1 point

Bigger fan of Black Isle in all honesty. Wish we got their stuff here regularly, although in fairness, a fair old trek to NZ.1 point

Great to see a good number of folk sticking around and 2stars has pretty much nailed what we Admins hope to see. Definitely the atmosphere we try to advocate for but obviously requires everyone else to buy into it. A good mix of opinions Welcome aboard all!1 point

Don't know if I've said this on here before so apologies if I'm repeating myself. But someone well known within Scottish football enquired at the beginning of last season what Aberdeen were doing so differently in training under Thelin to produce such a stunning run of results. What methods was he using, what drills, was it more intense, more tactical, etc. Just what genius was leading Aberdeen to this run of wins? He was told they were not doing anything different than what they normally do...1 point

I mind the rumour that gallons of concrete were secretly being poured into the foundations of the South stand every year to keep it from sinking into the ground.1 point

I mind being at an AGM during the Skovdahl years and Milne told us that we need to move out of Pittodrie because the main stand was falling to bits. Incidentally the reason I remember it being during the Skovdahl years was because Willie Miller stood up at the same AGM and demanded to know why the players were still using the tired training facilities at Balgownie that he used in the 80s. Before Milne got a chance to answer Ebbe piped in with “Yeah but there’s new grass there now!” to much amusement.1 point

Would also say that it is more civil on here even when differences of opinion arise - a mad was never close to the hat in terms of zoomers, but have felt more likely to post on here without getting into a never ending slanging match about absolute nonsense also good to see a fair few familiar regular posters move over and combined with decent contributions from the existing community, found this to be a far more enjoyable experience than the latter day stand free forum we all have opinions but loyalty to afc unites us stand free1 point

If you are thinking we are waiting until after the double header with Motherwell before making an imminent announcement, I think that is unlikely but it would be funny just to make an arse of all the news outlets that have been reporting the Norwegian as a done deal you would expect however they have sources within that would be feeding this out off the record until club can make a public statement that won’t affect payoff from St Ettiene and they have signed contract in their mitts1 point

I think a lot of Thelins success (initially with us) was down to the coaching team as a whole and things went markedly downhill after Emir Bajrami left. He was a really passionate guy and probably provided more balance in that he wouldn't have been afraid to give it tight to players who weren't pulling their weight. We seemed to lose the ability to attack as effectively after that. Would have been interesting to see how it would have panned out if they had kept him. Hopefully the lack of success for Horny Eirik in France had nothing to do with his assistant from Brann not joining him.1 point

Fyvie was never the same after his injury at Alloa. He played a decent number of games for us, and I don't think anyone was disappointed with him when he left, especially as he got a very surprising punt at it down South with a decent Wigan side. They obviously had only watched the clips when he first came through and not the stuff in between under Brown. He seemed to play well any time I saw him for Cove. He talks well when on Red TV, and obviously has a lot of love for the club. Hope he has a good retirement.1 point

Was it not Archie Knox who scared them all away? Fyvie and Grimmer left around the same period. Could have been that we were really shyte at the time. Even worse than now. He ended up being a cup winner in England and Scotland. Better players than Fyvie end their careers with no medals. We must have some amount of youth coaches though.1 point

Jim Ratcliffe can go take a right good fuck to himself. We’re surely reaching the ‘heads on spikes’ part of end stage capitalism This is a prick who played hungry hippos with uk taxpayers cash, then points the finger at immigrants? Its amazing that folk still fall for this pish1 point
