  1. Agreed. There are clearly aspects of their set up and play that are impressive. Getting what he is from that squad is pretty exceptional and the ability to switch players in and out often without significant reduction in quality is impressive too. They play some really good football box to box, their movement, work rate and understanding of each others positioning is also good. They struggle a bit bookending that though. Vulnerable at the back of they are pressed and not dominating possession and more crucially they don’t have a focal point up front and depend on playing through to allow Maswanhise in to score. They tried to create that focal point with the big Scandie guy but he was honking so I reckon it stuffed some of their game plan last night.

  2. I like to see this sort of thing. I've played kick abouts at the sports village where grown men are diving to win free kicks. The lack of sportsmanship in football is insidious. I don't believe it was always the case and we seem to not only be getting further and further away from a sport where sportsmanship was built in, but accepting and promoting it, and building it into our rules. The handball rule is a prime example, where sporting advantage (i.e. deliberate Vs not) has been removed from the equation. Accidental collisions are now red cards. Their red card, given after a slip etc. It's a real shame. It would be very simple to add the word "deliberately" into stopping a goalscoring opportunity, for example. Or "deliberately" endangering an opponent. Ironically, the sending off that everyone seems to be complaining about from last night was the one where the Motherwell player deliberately and cynically hauled the player to the ground to stop him getting away. He did it in an attempt to "take a booking" probably, with no idea whether his teammates would get back or not. It's certainly the most deserved of the sending offs, but we're all arguing over the technicality of whether the defenders would have caught the player, rather than the deliberate lack of sportsmanship in the challenge.

  3. Yeah but imagine Jambos failing to win at Pittodrie yet again and losing the title? If Geiger grows a tash he could be a spit for Albert Kidd, 40 years later. Then we go pump Sevco 3-0 in the cup final.

  4. We did have a bit of luck, but I agree that we played well and deserved the luck and the win. I'm not sold on Geiger yet. He looked okay, but I thought he looked a poorer version of Aouchiche. Doesn't quite have the legs I'd say, but hopefully it's just him getting up to speed. Agree about the wind, that's how I saw it in real time, although it does look a lot worse on the highlights! I totally disagree about your point in miovski. Last night, he had his eyes on the ball and accidentally caught the player, who was back on his feet in thirty seconds. If he's going to get sent off against the Hun, then there needs to be at least a season ending injury, and preferably in a challenge where he can follow through and take out at least one other Hun. Followed by him screaming in their faces and throwing his top into the Ibrox stands.

  5. Sorry but I won't have any talk of "luck" that's almost as bad as the idiot who claimed the cup final win was a "fluke". Aberdeen were good last night and I find it hard to understand why so many Aberdeen fans find it so hard to accept ehen we do well. It's as if a lot of our supporters actually find solace in negativity and being critical.

  6. Was gonna post this in the Motherwell match thread, but seems apt to just start this one early. Was just saying to someone on my way home from work there that the Dunfermline tie being away is the best thing that can happen to us. If it had been at home, of course it increases our chances of winning, but it's another 9,000 home crowd, a win expected, and even if we get through it's not going to give our season a massive lift. The same way it didn't when we beat Raith Rovers in the last round. Sometimes even reaching Hampden gets a muted response. But away from home, Saturday night, 2000-3000 travelling fans - maybe even more - the away end buzzing. One of those nights that - if we win - you get that connection between the fans and the players that we've seldom had this season. The new signings get to see just how good our away support can be if they deliver good performances. A "proper cup tie" if you like, a chance to make Neil Lennon greet. It's something to look forward to which we really, really needed to keep the enthusiasm going for this season. Also, despite Hearts, Hibs and Motherwell having significantly better league seasons than us, the odds on us winning a trophy are a lot shorter than it is for them, which is really quite something. Tickets: Stand behind the goal holds 3,000. When Hibs sold it out they were given an extra 1,000 in the main stand and in the stand opposite, turning the ground almost into a 50/50 split. Saturday night will put a few off but we'll still take very decent numbers I'm sure.

  7. https://www.afc.co.uk/2026/02/19/dunfermline-a-ticket-information/ Initial allocation of 3,700. £20 a ticket which is very sensible pricing. Sales begin Tuesday.

  9. I'm getting on a bit now so I'm a lot more insouciant than I once was but I've still got a decent amount of bile to spew out albeit the omeprazole are helping with holding that back a bit and the general 'hippy' vibe I'm sensing from a lot of the old guard posters is leading me to show some well-mannered and respectful restraint.

  10. I gave Motherwell a goal of a start. £37 back, which is much more than i normally get backing Aberdeen

  11. One thing I noticed last night. Milanovic looking like he was begging John Beaton not to send off the Motherwell lad in the first few minutes. Some would praise him for fair play, but fucking hell mate, we need every advantage we can get just now. Let the ref send him off.

  12. From what little I’ve seen so far I think Geiger could be an upgrade on Aouchiche and a fit with the Scottish game. Simply because more combative, more straightforward .He must be way off it in terms of fitness so too soon to say I suspect.

  13. Very happy to have got this one totally wrong, as I really never seen that coming. Not a great performance as such but a fantastic result and we are still in the cup in with a serious shout of retaining it (it has t be said). Hopefully both our goal scorers overall performance and contribution will go some way to silencing their critics. But apparently Shinnie's legs have gone and Nisbet is shite Said it before and will say Shinnie and Nisbet are the very VERY least of our problems, and once again both of them putting in MOTM performances last night. Great result and well done Leven and Doc and everyone involved. let's take some confidence from this. COYFR

  18. I’m the same. They’ll give us a game but we do seem to have some kind of voodoo spell over them these days.

  19. Agreed. Pressley has actually done a pretty solid job there and I personally think this will be a tough game. I would snap your hand off for a scabby, dull 1-0 win 2bh.

  25. I am just as usual telling it as it is min, bit some folks with the red tinted glasses and stalkers (like yirsel) don't always take this too kindly. Nae exactly doom and gloom blah blah fkn blah (as you put it) but again just realistic. You might have not read the part where I said It was not a great performance at all last night (and it really fkn wasn't) but Peter Leven himself admitted that in his post match interview. But it was all about the result and staying in the cup, and we managed that so well done to all involved. I did not think we would do that last night and to be honest we had bit of luck on our side with the two red cards, but hey sometimes luck goes the other way so we take it when it comes. And hopefully we can take some much needed confidence from that. So let's see what happens this weekend COYFR

  27. I like Geiger a lot. He's going to be a great signing. Wind played a part in the rash challenge that got him send off but I'm not doing to turn against him because of a red card in a game we went on to win as some Dons fans seen to be doing. If he replicated that tackle on Miovski next time we play that lot he'd surely be a local folk hero. Wouldn't care if we went on to lose the match 5-0 due to being a man down. Stuff of Legend.

  29. Well that was entertaining. Our captain MOTM, not for the first time, despite having lost his legs three seasons ago. Covered every inch of the park, and a great strike. Thought the defence did well. Frame was shakey first half, but did well second, and the other three were just sensible and solid in windy conditions. Exactly what you want to see. Nisbet played well again, and Cameron worked hard. Keskinen and Milanovic were dogshite, and really good subs by Leven to address that. Not playing Olusanya wide was an excellent decision. He's a poor footballer, but he can run quickly and harass defenders, which is exactly how he earned their player a red. It's all about playing players to their strengths, they don't have to be world beaters. Beaton was pish. Think he was rattled by the VAR calls. Getting two big calls wrong, apparently, must add a bit of pressure on to a ref. There was no doubt in my mind that their defender was going off after he was called over to the screen, even though it looked fifty-fifty. I didn't think either red was a clear and obvious error, with the ref getting the first call correct (although I think the challenge was soft and accidental, but last man and all that). Fancy a trip to East end for the next round, it's been a long time since I've been.

  30. It’s laboured and “careful” because the team is completely lacking in confidence. Whatever happened towards the end of Jimmy’s time, or really since the end of our good spell in the autumn, has sapped all the belief out of the entire squad. Hopefully the new signings and the return of the doc can make a difference, alongside results like tonight.

  31. It's amazing how football is still able to surprise. I've been fan of the game since 1990 and I have never heard of Bukta before. If anyone is in the same boat https://www.footballshirtculture.com/kit-design/the-history-of-bukta.html

  32. Would also say that it is more civil on here even when differences of opinion arise - a mad was never close to the hat in terms of zoomers, but have felt more likely to post on here without getting into a never ending slanging match about absolute nonsense also good to see a fair few familiar regular posters move over and combined with decent contributions from the existing community, found this to be a far more enjoyable experience than the latter day stand free forum we all have opinions but loyalty to afc unites us stand free

  34. It does look like that it is finally starting to unravel. I mean, would’ve thought that a rapist who was best friends with the worlds most notorious sex trafficking nonce, ran teenage beauty pageants & boasted about walking in on them changing, grabbing women by the pussy, said the number one thing he had in common with his daughter was sex, said that his daughter had great tits etc etc etc….who could’ve thought that that guy was a wrong ‘un!? Owning the libs was more important though
