  1. Ok, not my choice, but he's here so the slate is wiped clean until at least 4.55pm on Saturday He'd better get three points next week against the Huns or Bukta Bertie will self combust with conspiracy theories

  2. My guess is Robinson probably insisted on the 3.5 years. Why wouldn’t he? Lets be honest, after the clusterfuck we made of the prawcess, he held all the cards…

  3. It's done, announcement coming very soon. Dave is currently writing and rewriting the statement, trying to convince everyone that Robinson fits the board's philosophy of delivering exciting, attacking football and that he was the number one choice from the very start. He's here now. Wasn't my first choice but I also don't think he's anywhere near as bad as some people are making out. The anger should be with the club rather than Robinson.

  6. I feel cheated and completely underwhelmed. It has been a complete circus getting to this point. I really can't see a future at the club for Lutz if his position has been undermind by burrows. The board have acted in a totally amateurish fashion throughgout all of this. Not my choice and quite clearly not the club's first choice (otherrwise wait 2 plus months). Smacks of desperation and panic with I think Dunfermline result spooking Cormack and Burrows. He'll get my support as any new guy (apart from warnock) would but I can't see him getting much rope and unless there is a very quick turnaround in terms of performances and results wont last long. I think he has been superb for Motherwell and St. Mirren but not the right fit here. 2 and a half months of "global recruitment" has seen us ending up going to Paisley again. Not good.

  7. That's the first positive for me. Suits are a relic of a bygone era and a repressive patriarchal society. Be yourself man, wear what's comfortable. Edit: As long as you are never photographed in a hun or tim top

  12. It’s pretty clear to me that the plan has been for quite sometime to wait until the summer to make an appointment - hence the additions of Doc & the boy fae Norway to help out Leven until then. That absolute holocaust on Saturday - which was an incredible shocker of a no show, even for us - changed everything. Genuine panic stations with the FMB then ensued with the sudden realisation this setup would likely get us relegated. Back to the list, who’s available right now, only one, step forward Mr Robinson. That’s how it all looks to me anyway…

  15. The style of play thing is often a nonsense to my mind these days. You can play direct football and it still be exciting as long as plenty chances are created. As you say, Deek didn't (and still doesn't) play the most open, expansive game but 3 points will always be king and it's why he stayed with us for 8 seasons. Style of play isn't particularly important for us right this very second, points on the board are and, as I said yesterday, Robinson will hopefully be able to unite what looks to be a fractured dressing room.

  18. Not sure Lutz has been undermined here considering we were interested in Robinson two months ago, and Lutz began the process by saying he wanted someone with knowledge of Scottish football. But I guess it'll all come out over the next few months. I think we all know Robinson wasn't the first choice. Horneland obviously fell through for "unforeseen circumstances". Cormack mentioning Schwarz last week in an interview wasn't helpful, but the kind of brain fart we've come to expect from our dear leader.

  19. Yep - there are huns - Brown, Goram, Novo, Hateley, Durrant etc, and there are “former Rangers players” like many of those above. BIG difference…

  20. Currently watching his YouTube interview and my enthusiasm for him is waning due to the amount of times he says "football club". Not a good start to his tenure. Expected better than this.

  22. A big dose of copium here, but could it be that Robinson's style of play is a product of the budget he has to work with and the players he can attract to St Mirren?

  23. My take on things for what it's worth. When Lutz was interviewed for his position my guess is he was made aware by Cormack etc. that a change of manager could very well be happening soon due to Jimmy's league record and Cormack wanted assurances that if that were to happen that Lutz could attract a better calibre/name of manager than we've been able to in the past few years. We all know about Lutz's contacts in the football world and he's got the gig off the back of reassuring Cormack that he could get X/Y/Z in the door if/when Jimmy got punted. Fast forward to Jan and Jimmy is indeed punted and Lutz rifles through all the names in his black book along with other names that applied and complies a list and gets whittled down. Sadly no one from Lutz's list is interested in coming in January and the sweat starts coming on Lutz's brow. Leven was only meant to be a stop gap but now he'll be in position for longer-term. The results worsen and panic starts creeping in and Horneland is spoken to either officially or otherwise and he departs his job but unbeknownst that there is a clause stipulating that he can't take control until the summer. Lutz pacifies the FMB that it's fine, we'll be safe from relegation and the rebuild will begin but then Horneland starts getting cold feet and we reach put to this other German geezer, he comes over and sees what a shot show it is and says fuck that. During this time we get pumped out the cup, drop down the league and Cormack asks Lutz what's happening with the manager search and Lutz can't get anyone at all until the summer, which is obviously too late the way things are going. So Cormack and the FMB tell Lutz to sit this one out and go for Robinson. Lutz is either fired or resigns, Leven goes along with Doc and the other guy and we get Robinson and hopefully avoid relegation.

  29. Maybe. Or was it simply the final acceptance that enough is enough and we need someone now? If you are in the club, do you wait for the perfect girl? At some point decisions have to be made or you’re going home alone.

  31. I think he was the best option to avoid relegation and it will be interesting to see what he can do with a pre season and bigger budget. I would Imagine his first signings will players who can't be bullied on the pitch like some of our current squad

  33. If we play direct football and the players look like they’re trying, then I’ll settle for that for now The team better change its approach to suit him, rather than the other way about. If he’s been brought here to roll the ball out from the back, we’re fucked

  36. Welcome aboard Mr Robinson. He doesn't fit the strategy at all, but I think it's important to recognise that he was actually on our original shortlist back when we started looking, and was possibly the preference of at least one of those responsible for hiring, so it's not a completely wild appointment. It's a pragmatic appointment at least. We could easily have gone down the route of inexperienced or high risk foreigner for the sake of foreigner route that when weighed up would be much worse than Robinson. It's not like he doesn't tick any boxes at all. If Lutz is in any way a good sporting director, and not just an ego, then he'll definitely be able to work with Robinson. Just as he would have been able to work with the fourth or fifth foreigner on his list despite whatever flaws they brought. As long as we're clear about responsibilities from the outset, we should be fine. I actually think the worst thing would be if Lutz leaves. We've decided on a model that requires a sporting director. That means Lutz would have to be replaced. Once again we'd be getting a sporting director in after appointing a manager. Which would be taking shambolic to its peak.

  37. For several reasons I can't get to Pittodrie all that often so DNA is my way of contributing to the club. I decided to do that as a show of support and, to me, that support isn't contingent on who the chairman is, who the manager is or who we sign players on loan from. I supported the Dons long before Milne or Cormack were involved, I've endured countless dross managers and players and enjoyed one or two insane highs that pretty much make being a Dons fan worthwhile. I also plan on doing all that after Milne and Cormack are long gone. My contribution is a show of support for the entity that is Aberdeen FC, not any individual. Each to their own but for those reasons, DNA still works for me.

  38. Agreed BUT that doesn't mean to say he gets to avoid the customary criticism that all managers and players receive if they underperform and with the situation being what it is the fans will undoubtedly turn quicker than they otherwise would if it was a coach we deemed more befitting of our clubs stature. Let's hope for everyone's sake that he can hit the ground running.

  39. Aye, fair enough, the disease we see as Hunnishosis is nae easily cleansed .... might need a period o' quarantine ... as was the case wi' Sir Alex ... but it can be achieved. It's a bastard o' a disease tho ... takes hold very rapidly ... as could be witnessed merely in the faces o' Ryhun, Barrhun, etc within a very short time o' bein' smitten wi the blue pox. Ah'm holdin' oot hope Cameron hisna been close enough tae the 'superspreaders' tae be incurable .. but hey, time will tell, and he's only one player - albeit performin' a fraction o' a level above the rest o' the shite

  41. Good post, Panda! You made my post so much easier and shorter, was going to post something similar. He’s an experienced coach, Goodwin glass and Robson were not. Thelin had minimal knowledge/experience of our league, opponents, and players. Robinson will also have more of an idea than most of the type of player that’s needed for the SPL. We also have lutz (assuming rumors are false) and the return of Mowbray to find players. i suggested here early season that Robinson could be an option and got blasted for it, so no surprise that there’s so much negativity. But he has done well as a coach in the league. And won a cup. And not just with one SPL team. the big however is that he doesn’t seem to match the whole long term approach, philosophy of the club, and the glamor of a new coach. I’m certainly disappointed in this announcement, surely we could have done better. Seems like desperation/panic to me, and id be surprised if he came before summer. When i suggested him before one major negative voiced was the quality of their play. Haven’t seen enough of his teams to comment, although I have certainly been wooed more by the play of falkirk and Motherwell. Don’t remember the chat when Alex miller was hired, or Roy Aiken, and in more recent times when goodwillie came. Certainly my most deflating hire for us to date and I’ve been a fan approx 45 years, even though there are signs he could be a good fit/hire.

  42. They did say when it launched that the money would be going to youth development. So I've been subsidising the huns who took Barron (did they even pay for him in the end?) and Wright. I think I will bin it off as well.

  44. Huns particularly the Ulster Scots are almost always rangers fans. It might not concern you but it certainly does me and it's something we absolutely should be keeping an eye on. I'd not employ a single one of them at the club. Not even as a till girl in the shop.

  45. The man's religion is the least of our concerns about Stephen Robinson I'd respectfully suggest

  46. You still get a top and a gift pack with some stuff from the shop. There are other incentives but only if you are able to get to the stadium which I guess they are hoping will save money as a lot can't. I do it mainly to help the youth development but it seems to be getting wasted elsewhere. (Dodgy loan deals).

  48. That stuff stays with you. I remember the mighty Sons of the Rock had to go to Crappielow in a league championship decider. The glue sniffing unwashed minging sweaty b’stards sneaked a win and their whole team were celebrating in front of their honking support. One of them took the time to come over and rip the pish out of the Dumbarton end though, and I remember thinking what a classless disgusting pestilence ridden prick It was Derek McInnes

  49. I think it's a weegie myth, that Aberdeen isn't a city for fitba. A proud one club city, with no sectarian shyte having ever dragged us down to the levels of other Towns and Cities. I think that's the part that irks them most. Please, please don't say the Cove huns are the second team of the City. They're not even the second club in Cove. Whatever is happening at Bodo, it will never happen here again. They are probably going through a period, like we did in the 80s, with Fergie. Everything has just aligned for them as it did us and good luck to them. I was in Oslo in October, and Bodo have a pop up shop at Oslo Airport, where you can buy Bodo merchandise. I thought that was impressive.
