  1. Tracey Thorn’s autobiography is a great read, whether you like their stuff or not.

  3. That game should have been all over by HT. We were very decent first half. Well set up, disciplined, used the ball well, created chances, good stuff - but then the finishing was utter shite. Second half, everything wrong with this lot all clearly on display yet again. A couple of comments on players: Geiger is a player, excellent footballer, he’d be even better in an actual football team, so naturally we won’t be able to keep him. Aremu was good first half, but yet again, completely died on his arse fitness wise second half. Not good enough that, he’s been here long enough to get match fit by now. A summer running the dunes at Balmedie seriously required there. If this club signs Olusanya this summer they can GTF for all time. How the fuck is that guy making a living as a footballer - unbelievable Jeff. Can we please stop any talk that those 3 CH’s are remotely good enough or suitable for this league. TBF, Morrison wasn’t horrible tonight, I thought his positioning was generally good, but you cannot play a bunch of CH’s in this league who are so weak physically, lacking in aggression, poor in the air & unable to defend their box - & I include Knoester in that who got completely done and outmuscled by their guy winning the ball into the box that led to their second - which was a decent finish tbf. We’ve been worse, but we’re just not good, and nobody did anything to change that opinion unsurprisingly - and thankfully - cause that team needs completely ripped up and start again…

  4. My number 1 annoyance about fitba on telly is when they show replays while the ba's in play. Drives me mad.

  5. Just stop talking and get him signed before someone else spots him.

  10. County 0-1 up against Raith. Assist for Ryan Duncan as he steps over a free kick to let a better player take it.

  11. Any talk of Olusanya on a permanent deal I think should be quietly put to bed after that.

  12. I love Shinnie, I would give him a contract for life. But yeah, I think for him it makes sense to go to Inverness and see out his career at somewhere that - I presume - he's considered a legend for his cup win. He could still do a job for us, even if it's off the bench, as he can play off the left or the middle. But you can't have your captain as a bit-part player, and essentially emasculating him by making him give up the captaincy but remain on the books isn't how his Dons career should end.

  13. I had the sticker books from 78 to 86 and bought my brother the 90 one and my nephew the 98 one so I could secretly keep doing them. Not be doing it this time as daughter said she would rather I just gave her the money.

  14. I'm guessing it's about £10 for a pack of stickers these days.

  15. World Cup stickers, a poor relation to collectable items of yester years Somewhere in my loft, I still possess the entire Esso 1970 World Cup coin collection. These were given away with petrol purchases and no, before some smart arse suggests it, even I wasn't old enough to drive then

  16. Nope, but I did get a panini sticker collection book, covering the years 1977 to 1985, for Xmas and it is ace. It is off the scale how old certain players looked back in the day. Ernie McGarr, a goalkeeper for Airdrie, looked about 60 and was only 25. I don't think I ever collected the WC stickers, as afraid I have never been big into international fitba.

  17. I think we all did things 30 years ago that we might not be too proud about looking back on now. As a supporter of a club whose fans have sung songs about people dying in stadiums, laughing at players getting injured and even chucking seats at their own, we are in no place to get all high and mighty.

  18. Thought I'd give my take on our signings: Suman (s) - who knows? Not really tested and what is it we expect from a backup keeper? Bratveit (s) - didn't hugely impress me, but fine as a back up Gyamfi (s) - good going forward, mixed defensively - may be a question of whether part of a 4 or a 5? Obvious injury issues Frame (s) - success Elvis (s) - not tested Dorrington - fail. Really don't know why. Morrison - not sure, potential to be a success, depending on role and system? McIntyre (s) - fail Aouchiche - success/fail Armstrong (s) - success but a bit of a rolls royce, my sense is we'll get more out of him if we're performing better Geiger - moderate success: I think has helped bring some stability but fitness/injuries have limited his contribution Aremu (s) - flashes of what he might be capable of, but fitness has limited contribution to date Kjartansson (s) - too soon to say. He's young and a "project player". He's stepped in sometimes and shown potential Cameron - success-ish. He's been busy and energetic, but doesn't feel like his impact in terms of goals, etc. has been what I'd expect? Karlsson - early goals garnered points that probably have saved us, but over the piece a fail. A negative influence on the team I suspect Milanovic (s) - even as a "project player" has looked completely lost and unable to impact the game. Unclear if remediable Bilalovic (s) - as a "project player" has shown flashes of potential, but certainly not a success yet. Would like to see him given a Shady Mo role Olusanya - despite his limitations, has been a successful signing Yengi (s) - redefines the meaning of fail. Extraordinarily bad signing. Lazetic (s) - "project player" so early to judge, but hasn't shown any signs of progression, potentially the reverse, so not looking good Nisbet (s) - success

  21. One of the rules of this forum, and perhaps all fora, I believe, is that posters are not supposed to self filter. You pile on until you've either made a cunt of yourself, called someone's died ma a whoor, or gone wildly deep into a topic, boring the shite out of a'bidy.

  22. The Stephen Morris book is good. Hooky’s, not so much. The best music biography I read was ‘Never Enough’ about the Cure. I like them but I’m not a massive fan. Love the singles, find the albums a bit chewy. Anyway, worth a read if you haven’t already

  23. Have you read anything on Mikhail Gorbachev? Covered a load on him in the mid-90s as I wrote my uni dissertation on him. Reform within a One Party Totalitarian System. Ploughed through some great political and history books back then.

  24. Not my bag either, I'm a fussy git. My history interest is mainly 1900 onwards, with the two world wars, being of particular interest. Love a biography in general, read hundreds of the things over the years, find them easy to read. Julian Cope is a particular favourite, well worth a read if you haven't done so already, as been released a long time. Another few music books worth a read, are Viv Albertine, Will Sergeant and Stephen Morris. The three of them have two books each, with a third installment due from both Sergeant and Morris. I used to lap up political biographies for years too. Again only politicians from around 1900 to around the 1990s. I think the most recent one I read was Nicola Sturgeon and before that would have been Dennis Skinner. Books about Aberdeen and ex Don's players are another genre I love and looking forward to reading the upcoming Neil Simpson book, released this month I believe. None of my recent reads have been worth sharing with anyone, been pretty poor stuff I have picked up.

  25. A lot of that has to do with their names and their haircuts. It was clear after Polvara was forced out for looking too much like Milne, that we were going to have to address the three you mention.

  26. I was actually outside walking when on here this morning, and I absent mindedly read @Jupiter's post out loud. A starling stared at me and said "are you a fucking moron? Our population levels have dropped sixty percent since the fifties, and so have most of our friends." "It's not me, I'm just reading a forum post mate" I replied To which, he said "well fucking well respond telling him he's a narrow minded bellend, whose trite response is neither welcome, nor based on evidence, and shows the depth of thought of a teenager. A human teenager, for the avoidance of doubt" "I'd never speak to someone like that starling" I said.
