Somewhere at this very moment Craig Levein is shaking his head and muttering “only 10 defenders…not nearly enough “.2 points

Just posting that. Just not worked. Think lad was let down by way club managed move. Should have been put out on loan to get used to playing in Scottish football once it became clear he wasn’t ready for first team.2 points

Downloaded it Sunday morning and read it before the day was out. Excellent read, although it might mean more to the guys of my age than some of our younger supporters. The book took me on a real trip down memory lane and there were very few games that he spoke about that I wasn't in attendance at. No doubt in my mind that Simmy was overplayed when not fit, but much of that appears to lie with himself, such was his desire to play week in week out for the team he loved. Hard to believe that whilst playing regularly for the first team he was on a basic wage of £100 per week and I didn't get the impression that the bonuses were that high. Shocking the way that the Scottish Glasgow media hounded him out of Scottish football the way that they did. A Don to the very core and a nice ending with him finally finding his father before it was too late2 points

You forgot the important part: never reveal your stockpiling online. They'll come for you first.2 points

I’ve been saying this since 11/9 and the US using it as an opportunity to get its mitts on the States’ fossil fuels which had somehow found their way under Mesopotamia.2 points

We should move heaven and earth to get back into the EU. We will go back with a significantly poorer deal than we had but that’s the price paid for stupidity. The only realistic way we get out of this Reform spiral and the misery of where the UK is headed is by driving economic growth and bringing some much needed wealth back into both the public purse and into the pockets of those at the poorer end of society. The EU is our biggest market opportunity, we’ve lost tens of billions by leaving it. On top of that, the rise of Trump has changed the landscape immeasurably in Europe and the need to form stronger ties with them has never been greater in recent times.2 points

I also don't think Ralston is as bad as people make out. He's certainly got a good attitude too imo. When he was having a mare at the euros in 24 I never once got the impression he was hiding from the ball.... Might have been better for him if he had to be fair1 point

I feel a bit bad for stirring up such negative emotions in you! Sorry Never tried the Richard Coles ones - don't think I will if I will have my hopes raised then dashed by the second one. Hadn't realised it was him that wrote the telly thing being advertised everywhere with Neville from Harry Potter in it.1 point

Who would have thought all those years ago Shankland would be a World Cup player. Say what you like about him, but he has fairly come on since leaving us. Let's hope our young players take note of what can happen when you put in the hard work1 point
-
Aye, and in fairness to Ralston, he was involved when they were both injured for ages and McRorie wasn't doing a lot for his club. Since then he's regularly turned up for squads as backup. It's similar to Hanley, Hirst and Gordon, he helped get us there so he gets first refusal. If McRorie was a really good player in a role we struggled in then it would be justified, but he's only marginally better than Ralston.1 point

Sounds like you've deciphered them quite succinctly! The only slight addendum I'd suggest is that it's not just that it negates the short term, it's that short term not only actively ignores the long term, it dresses itself up as solving it. In reality, the long term is not discussed, ever. It's like discussing the new skis you're getting for a snowy holiday your going on in a few years. You've bought all your snowsuits, gloves, hats, ski boots etc. Next year, you're due to have your legs amputated. It's denialism. Very costly denialism. The EU/Burnham shite is discussing the intricate parts of the game without actually discussing what and why the game exists and what its outcomes are.1 point

Yikes. Not been able to access today so missed all this. No personal offence taken my end Rico, I’m too long in the tooth for that, all opinions and debate are valid in my head. I gave up thinking I’m always right when I met my wife 30 years ago but I also gave up thinking other people are too so anything is up in the air . I would love to come back and challenge your points but I actually can’t really decipher what they are other than a fairly apocalyptic view of the direction of travel that appears to negate any short term thinking that doesn’t change the direction of that particular course.1 point

The panic is in the future though? They are absolutely choices. I choose not to drink monster, eat ultra processed vegan meals or hate minority groups. That has nothing to do with class (although I simply ooze the stuff)1 point

I have a house full of used dog shit bags and rangers tops. Nothing you want here. Move along please. Thanks.1 point

Many moons ago I was working in my local on a Saturday afternoon and the pub was fairly busy with the old firm twats that drank in there. Maybe around 20 of the gormless bellends. Anyway, I asked who scored the winner in the cup final the last time their team won it. About half of them couldn’t tell you who they were playing. Only one of them knew the right answer I’d bet everything I had that James Forrest couldn’t tell you who he won his medals against Whatever it is that normal people get out of going to the football, is missing with these cunts. Which is probably what draws them to them in the first place1 point

I’m with Mason. Amazing imagination but he just can’t write. I don’t think I’ve ever finished one of his books. They make cracking films though.1 point

I just prefer actual books. I got a Kindle type thing over 10 years ago, but just didn't like it.1 point

Labour definitely want it but they are in the jaws of the vice on this one and the media in this country are just waiting to turn the screw. They are terrified of how Farage would weaponise a reversal of Brexit and the right wing media would blow the wind directly into his sails. They would go full bore on the boats and images of thousands upon thousands of immigrants landing here for free. Even though Brexit has been the most damaging thing for immigration as the French can now just say fuck it, your problem now. it’s exactly the same with Isreal, Labour are so terrified of the antisemitism tag that they won’t speak out about it despite how they really feel. Again, the media and certain factions within politics are poised and ready to go to town on them if they do. The media in this country are absolute cretins and they make it almost impossible for a left or even central party to succeed for any length of time.1 point

Absolutely - if we're going with a four then Knoester could only ever be the ball-playing reader of the game beside a properly aggressive partner. Pairing him with a right-footed version of himself wouldn't solve any of our problems. On that note, given that we've seen so little of him, I wonder what Tobers' profile is.1 point

He got it for being the least shite player. I'd probably have gone with Nisbet. He's a good footballer, but he's quite weak on crosses. I think that a stronger defender clears out both player and ball for their first yesterday too, although maybe a touch harsh! If we're sticking with Knoester next season, then I'd like to see us move Milne on. I don't think Knoester does anything for Milne really, and I think he has the potential to be a good player, so probably best to move on, to a team that wants to develop him. I also think that Knoester would be very good alongside a strong right sided centre half too, I just think it's one or the other. Especially if we're going for a back four.1 point

There was a mob of ticketless fans already outside. They left before that crowd grew larger - from fans without tickets descending on Parkhead, and/or from fans leaving the stadium. Whether they were attacked or not is inconsequential. Thousands of fans piling onto the pitch and running right up to you to goad you - scream and swear at you - you're going to feel unsafe. It's fair to presume you are at risk of being attacked. And, I've heard accounts from Hearts fans I know - not exactly shrinking violets - who have said it was a nightmare when outside the stadium and as unsafe as they've felt leaving a game. What is bizarre about the whole thing is - why the hell are Celtic fans so angry anyway? When Aberdeen won the cup, I was full of joy, wanting buy the whole world a beer. It never once crossed my mind to run on the pitch, scream abuse at Celtic players, go fight anyone with a Celtic top on, or go surround the Celtic bus leaving the stadium. It's like Celtic have won so much that they've gone beyond being happy, and for them it's more about hating anyone who dares deny them their right to win everything. *Not all Celtic fans of course. I say that because there were many of them who were gracious when Aberdeen won the cup.1 point

The League Cup group stage draw is 27 May and will be televised, so get that in the diaries. As for today. Molloy is shite, I don't know why people are so keen to give him a chance. One of the goals, he gives it away, gets back into position, then is outjumped because he can't jump, something that has been evident for some time, and no amount of time will fix that. Milne surely is one of the guys Robinson alludes to when he criticises the lack of fight and desire? Devlin has that, but isn't the same player he once was. Our defence is hopeless. The midfield three at times today actually played some decent stuff. Keskinen I thought looked okay more central - he'll battle in there and his through balls are better than his crossing. Robinson - I don't get the criticism of him this early. He's got more out of this group of charlatans than anyone else has, and more than I thought possible. He's saved us from the ignominy of a play-off. Will judge him next season.1 point

Only eight weeks until it all starts again in the League Cup. Eight weeks to turn this shower of shite into a team. I wish Robinson all the luck in the world.1 point

That's Super John McGinn into the UEFA Cup final with Villa. Hopefully he doesn't get injured. He could win both the Europa League and the World Cup in the same year. Wouldn't that be something?1 point
