redordead
sorry, meant to say above our level, but above is missing from earlier post. Not in USA, MLS used to show on TV and he was one of the better players, I think he was at houston at that time Quote Link to comment https://dev.donstalk.co.uk/topic/2514-stuart-holden/page/2/#findComment-69547
maverick sheep
Well, thats that fucked. http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/spl/rangers/walter-smith-tracks-american-internationalist-stuart-holden-1.933367 that could be to our advantage. no takeover for the hunnery means no new players so maybe he'll hold off discussions wi anyone else until it sorts itself out. if it falls through then why not aberdeen for a while? even if he wants to go to the filth in the long run. Guest Makaveli
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11781_5721697,00.html Why do we always seem to warn other teams about players and then lie back and admit defeat with a look of surprise when another team swoops in with better wages? Can we not keep these things on the qt till we actually sign them? Quote Link to comment https://dev.donstalk.co.uk/topic/2514-stuart-holden/page/2/#findComment-69859
Guest ally s
I doubt very much it was Mcghee's interest that alerted other clubs. The boy's one of the hottest properties in the MLS just now and that alone will attract a lot of interest. Clubs cast their scouting net far and wide these days, there are very few markets in the footballing world that aren't saturated with scouts from all over. dave_min
Like we were ever gonna get him anyway. The only reason we were even linked with him was because he was born here. Quote Link to comment https://dev.donstalk.co.uk/topic/2514-stuart-holden/page/2/#findComment-69862
Reekie_Red
This from SkySports: Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee has conceded defeat in the club's attempts to sign USA international Stuart Holden. The Aberdeen-born midfielder is set to become a free agent as his contract with MLS side Houston Dynamo expires at the end of the month. McGhee was keen to bring the 24-year-old back to Scotland, but concedes he may be unable to match the wages on offer from rival teams. No surprise "It's no surprise that he is attracting interest from bigger clubs," McGhee told the Evening Express. "It's likely we've missed the boat on that one now because there is no way we will be able to compete with the type of wages he is likely to be offered. "It's frustrating but that's the world we live in." Quote Link to comment https://dev.donstalk.co.uk/topic/2514-stuart-holden/page/2/#findComment-69907
