On This Day: 2 March

1983: A splendid Aberdeen performance in Munich against Bayern, secures the Dons a non-scoring draw in the first leg of the Cup Winners' Cup Quarter Final. Watch out for fireworks at Pittodrie.

Oh yes indeed:

On This Day: 16 March

1983: The greatest night in most Dons' fans supporting careers as the Dandies twice come from behind to beat Bayern Munich 3-2 with goals from Simpson, McLeish and Hewitt. There has never been a Pittodrie atmosphere quite like this one, before or since.

and another good omen?

Semi Final (Dens Park) Saturday 5th April

HIBS (0) 0 ABERDEEN (2) 3

Stark (20), Black (35),

J Miller (81)

HIBS: Rough, Sneddon, Munro, May, Fulton, Rae, Tortolano (McBride), Chisholm, Cowan, Durie (Harris), Collins.

ABERDEEN: Gunn, McKimmie, Angus, Stark (McMaster), McLeish, W. Miller, Black, Cooper (J Miller), McDougall, Bett, Hewitt.

This is Aberdeen's seventh Scottish Cup semi-final in eight seasons under Fergie. Hibs showed the early sparkle. Gunn pushes Collins' deflected shot against the bar. But two crosses produced two headed goals by Stark & Black - the same pair who have destroyed Hibs in the League Cup Final. Hewitt also centred for Joe Miller's headed goal.
