DIAMOND GEEZER!

12:00 - 08 January 2008

Zander Diamond today dropped a huge hint that he's preparing to stay at Pittodrie.

The news will come as some comfort to the fans following contract snubs from Chris Clark, Barry Nicholson and Michael Hart.

Diamond, 22, looked ready to join the rebels on the way out of the club after initial talks stalled. But now his representatives are ready to hold further discussions with director of football Willie Miller after the club offered him much-improved terms.

"I have always maintained that I want to stay with Aberdeen," said Diamond.

"I'm enjoying my football again and still hope to work something out."

Diamond has been courted by Wolves, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest but he's ready to reject their advances to continue his education in the North-east.

The former Scotland under-21 star feels Pittodrie is the best place to further his own career.

If Miller can secure Diamond's future it would go some way to appeasing the fans. The club have been grooming the defender as the next player they could potentially sell.

Other English clubs continue to circle over Aberdeen's stars.

Plymouth want Hart and have already tabled an offer of £175,000 although the Dons want more.

Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock has also made a bid for Clark, believed to be in the region of £100,000.

But it's likely to take a double deal worth £500,000 before the Dons will accept.

Preston are also keen on Hart and Nicholson, while Premiership strugglers Derby County are monitoring the situation.
