Kraftwerk - Live at the Manchester Apollo

Surpassed my expectations and then some.

Musically and visually stunning.

Ralf Hutter, 78 years old, still up on a stage doing his thing.

I reckon there will be an AI version of Kraftwerk, up on stage, in the not to distant future.

I think Hutter would love that. Four AI Robots up on stage, carrying on the  Kraftwerk brand, long after he is gone.

Met a couple of scousers last night, who first saw them in Liverpool in 1978 and last night was their 12th Kraftwerk gig.

Much as I detest the likes of Taylor Swift (not that I could name a single song), I would rather manufactured pop music continues to be manufactured by actual people (who probably have more song writing talent than most of us on here combined) than churned out by AI. And I would rather AI doesn't start to infiltrate 'real' grassroots music and make kids think writing a song of any style or genre is as simple as entering some parameters to whatever software they can get their hands on.

It's our there, it pops up unknowingly in our algorithms, and it is another nail ready to be hammered into the coffin of what was once our creative minds.

Where I live we have quarterly gigs by under 18s. There is still some real talent out there, and I am quite blown away by the creativity of some of them (others not so much but good on them for getting up on stage and giving it a go). It gives me a modicum of hope for the arts.

And don't get me started on the Abba hologram pish that passes for a gig and people pay £200+ to see.....but moan at a real gig by real people singing real live words costing them £30.

It's anti fucking music.

Last part of my AI rant - as an avid reader, would you be happy if a series by your favourite author continued to be churned out by AI after their death? Or would you rather give new aspiring young creatives the opportunity to flourish in their stead?

My point about Krafterk is about them becoming a robotic live band, using AI robots, as performers, who will look like actual humans.

Kraftwerk predicted this in the 70s.

I've been to ABBA Voyage and it's fabulous, saw it with my daughters and best friends. Didn't pay 200 quid and also same time last year saw Brooke Combe live at Barrowlands, that was also fabulous and not 200 quid either

I probably shouldn't have used Taylor Swift because I think, although could be wrong, that she writes her own stuff. There is a very large proportion of pop music that, for some time now, has been written for generic pop wanks that have zero personality, creativity and seem to have no understanding of music. I'd have been in the latter group that you mention (although I have the voice of an angel), and I don't think they'd be put out by AI. If anything, it'll weed out the ones (like me at that age) who aren't actually interested in music, but fame, as they'll be the ones generating AI wank.

If someone's output is so shite that it can be replicated by AI then they won't be my favourite author. There's a reason AI hasn't written Bleak House. Because it can't feel like Dickens could. It can't look at a person's face and describe it so that the reader can see them.
