Aberdeen Draw Cup Inspiration From Copenhagen, Reveals Scott Severin

ABERDEEN captain Scott Severin says the Dons will need to take no risks in front of goal if they are to have a hope of beating Celtic in the Scottish Cup.

But he believes the side can draw inspiration from their impressive UEFA Cup run earlier this season to fire them up for Pittodrie cup clash.

Aberdeen go into the game having beaten the Glasgow side just twice in their previous eight Scottish Cup ties at Pittodrie, and with Celtic still smarting from their Champions League exit to Barcelona.

But the midfielder says Aberdeen are fired up by the prospect of facing Celtic, even if they know the size of task ahead of them.

"Nobody is in any doubt that it will take a massive performance on our behalf to get through but we're really looking forward to it," the Dons skipper said.

"The pressure is on Celtic rather than us, nobody expects us to come through, so all we can do is give it our best shot. It's very like the Copenhagen game in that way, everything comes down to just the 90 minute.

"That night we created five or six chances and took four of them, and it's not just about the boys up front but about all of us taking the chances when they come up. If we can create the same number of chances and be more clinical, it could make for a very interesting afternoon."

The question is will the real Scott Severin turn up or the lazy bastard Severin?
